Fucking Jerry Hairston, Jr. can play this game, can't he: multiple positions and good AB's?

JD said that Richard Hidalgo, who is coming back to throw out a first pitch, has such a cannon that he should toss from RF.

They said yesterday he was 3.6 to first base, and remembered someone saying Mantle was 3.1, which is unbelievable.

I heard that. My dad said that Mantle was really fast, but I'm having real trouble believing that he was faster than Gordon. I think that there is a reasonable chance that the stopwatches weren't as accurate back then?

Lowrie beat that throw. Hallion wants this inning over. Nine runs on four hits?  Wow.

My guess is Joe Mauer.

The encyclopedia of baseball catchers shows Damian miller, but I'm not sure it's been updated since 2003

It's outdated. Kelly Stinnett hit one in 2005 and Mauer hit one in 2007. And Mauer may have hit another one because his Wikipedia page, which I didn't feel like reading in full, described it as his "first".

Can you believe that we are 11-31 in a pinch so far? Neither did I. But it is true. I  still think that pinch hitting is the toughest job in baseball. Of course, in the big leagues, you can go down in  the tunnel and hit live pitching and off of the tee. But everywhere else, it is very hard thing to do.

From what I've seen, average. Placement is good, range not fabulous, decent arm. Not a liability by any means.

Good to hear, gracias.

Two more weeks til I get my TV back and can actually watch these games. I should've realized how hard loaning it away during the season would be.

I am SO GODDAMN TIRED OF THIS FUCKING CHEVY COMMERCIAL.

Then again, avoiding the commercials is a pretty nice silver lining.

Weren't they pretty good last season, although that could be mostly Downs' success.

It's a long season.

Yep. I've made a lot of roster moves so far, but I'm probably going to slow down here now. I say that now, but watch me make a bunch more. I need to leave it alone for awhile.

Nope. Not even close.  You've evidently been fortunate enough to have tuned out the previous 40 or 50 references.  Whatever you were doing to have tuned 'em out, better put that one back into your repertoire...  Otherwise you're in for a long season (and then some...).

And to think that we scored the first nine runs on only four hits. I like the fact that Biggio is now doing the Grand Slam for Youth baseball commercials instead of a player who might get moved.

In other action, I see that Colorado had to bring in Belisle when the new setup guy, Rex Brothers (on my fantasy team, of course) allowed the tying runs on while recording no outs. Belisle shut them down and still has a spotless ERA this season.
