Texas Formal

Anyone have an earthly clue as to what attire is appropriate to fit this dress code?

Pre-memorial day:  Sharkskin suit, boots, bolo tie.  Leather duster optional.

Post-memorial day:  Searsucker suit, white patent leather shoes (no laces), pink tie.  Monocle or cane optional.

In general "Texas Formal" for men means the bottom half in jeans and boots and the top half in a tuxedo.  A black Stetson would be perfectly acceptable, if the occasion is outdoors.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

FWIW, I found this online:

Quote
Sometimes, themed parties call for dress codes like Texas Black Tie, or other variations of Creative Black Tie. In that situation, you can have more fun with it, choosing a dressy look with a theme (for him, it could be a tux with boots and for her it could be a long dress paired with Southwestern style silver belt and jewelry).

Gotcha.  Because it would suck if you put your hat on the chair next to you and the waitress sat on it.

Seriously, thanks.  Except that I am no closer to knowing how to navigate this sartorial conundrum.

Why not?  I assume you've been invited to an occasion that requests Texas formal attire.  You will need a tuxedo jacket/shirt/tie and a pair of black jeans, the kind that make you look long and slender, not the baggy kind that make your ass look big.  A pair a black boots, recently polished, will complete the ensemble.  A sizeable belt buckle will win you extra style points.

I have seen these used, but would not myself:
http://www.santanaformal.com/formal/txcbbset300-p-328.html
http://www.tuxedo-formalwear.com/tvus1327.html

black jeans, evening jacket (black or ivory depending on if it is baseball season or not), well polished black boots, a normal bow tie, and either a normal cummerbund or a big belt buckle.

This.  Maybe swap the bow tie for a black satin necktie.  No bolo whatsoever.  Either black jeans or super dark indigo.  And the more dangerous the animal that died to make your boots the better.

Do not listent to this advice.  Garish exotic skins boots do not make you look more Texan.

I have a full-collared dress shirt, so a 'necktie will work with that.  No idea what a bolo is.  I have slightly-faded black jeans and black boots (leather, with a reserved, not garish, pattern).

I may need to learn how to two-step...

It's sprawling, but rife with institutional corruption?

I was kidding about the boots, of course.  Stingray is about as exotic as would ever be necessary.  No reptiles, just ostrich or something from a pasture.
