Crane wants to cut the payroll just to keep up with all of the travel costs.  Zing!?

Levine's Q&A with Barnett on that same page is very interesting reading.

Levine's Q&A with Barnett on that same page is very interesting reading.

He lost points for not referring to him as "Barnsie".  Otherwise, outstanding interview.

Thanks for the heads up, that was a great read.

Speaking of hitting, Bourgie's hit a bit of rough water, he is 5 for his last 43, with 1 extra base hit and no walks. His average has gone from .371 to .304.

Sosa's performance since arriving makes me wonder whether the Astros staff found some flaw in his delivery while scouting him.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Yes, and I believe that flaw is called "pitching in relief". From what I can gather, he's always been good to very good in the starter's role, but pretty horrible out of the pen. I read around the time of the trade that he found himself odd man out as a starter in the SF org, and it looks like his numbers from 2010-11 reflect the (badly) failed experiment to transition him to relief.

Manzella claimed by the Dbacks. I wonder if they'll call him up or just stash him at AAA.

They need a glove at short badly.

Crane must be looking forward to receiving the claim fee.

Was listening to the Phillies-Giants game this weekend, and it was a little odd to hear Keppinger hit a ball off Oswalt to Pence, with Aubrey Huff coming up a couple batters later and Lidge entering later in the game. All significant pieces of likely playoff teams.

How did Sosa look?

A bit like Ezequiel Astacio, except... eh... without... ah... a little different.

No one looks like Astacio.

By the way, a government experiment is underway.  Just forget everything you ever knew about Ezequiel Astacio.
