There is hardly anyone that thinks Wade didn't get over completely on the Phillies in that deal. He pulled 2 future stars, plus two other players, for a nice but by no means elite player.
I don't think Wade was a clear winner. It was a fair deal. It was very reminiscent of the Lidge - Bourn deal. A contending team got a piece that may help them win now. A developing team got a couple of solid pieces that may blossom into good players, or better. I think both sides got what they wanted.
And further, even though Wade wasn't able to talk Wren out of any of their so-called big four, he did get four solid players in return. I would probably argue that Wade should have played hardball with the Braves. Look, you guys don't want to give us Teheran or Minor? Fine, see if you can compete with the Phillies with the leadoff guys and CF you're running out there now. Good luck!
I'd really like to know what else if anything was on offer for Bourn.
