Jarred Cosart
« on: July 30, 2011, 02:38:09 pm »
Someone'll get around to posting about his stuff, stats, etc., but thought a number of folks would appreciate the following comment from the League City Texas kid (via Levine on Twitter):

"Houston boy at heart, a Texans fan good or bad, a Rockets fan good or bad."
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

He was said to be going to AA, but he is listed on the Lancaster roster.

I've been watching some video of him. I can't say he has the prettiest delivery I have ever seen.

That's one of the concerns. That and some injury history. Related?

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

That did look Roy Oish, especially the way he was walking after the strike out.

I was watching the futures game and he continues that strut further to the first base line.  All I thought of was Roy.  Kind of spooky actually.

Another solid start tonight. 6 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 1 ER, bullpen blew a 7-1 lead going into the 8th. BOX

WTF?

Maybe Bud gave him a little bonus to try to sow the seeds of a rivalry with the Rangers.

I probably shouldn't like to hear stuff like that from players, but man I hate the rangers and agree with the sentiment.

Not that it is always apparent, but he didn't seem cocky or demonstrate any assholeitude in the start I saw.

I think Bud has proven beyond a doubt that he HATES the idea of giving any sort of extra bonus to prospects... Clearly this was the diabolical work of Lynn Nolan himself.

The kid made good on his talk: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; he's now 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA. CC wins 7-1 (beating a pitcher making his 2nd pro start in 6 pro seasons...)

More on Cosart's start: Rajan LINK (worth the read)

What Cosart did in the second inning certainly qualified as impressive. He struck out the side, with the radar gun readings on his third strikes clocking in at 98, 95 and 96 miles per hour.
