Is this thing on?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Bourn flies out to LF. Bourgeois doubles down the RF line. Pence hits a hard ground ball right up the middle, but the Jakes were inexplicably shifted that way, so the second baseman makes a relatively routine play, Bourgeois moving to third. Lee hits the predictable ground ball to SS to end the inning.

Yes, the sequence to Holliday was very nice to see. Looked aggressive and confident.

I know that JD was just talking about the "8-hole" hitter, but I prefer to believe he was talking about the "A-hole" hitter.

Or maybe he was talking about our a-hole right fielder.

Happ is keeping the ball down tonight a lot better than he has. That's what he needs to do. Throwing strike one would help.

That is obviously the company line. Had the prick not badlly misplayed the ball, he wouldn't have been in position to slip.

Right, that's why the other five outfielders have been tripping all over the place.

What I want to know is why is it permissible to schedule an event in a baseball stadium during the season? Macca played at Shea earlier in the year, didn't he? What the fuck? Why couldn't they play in the football stadium?

No, I mean obviously, but why wouldn't a baseball team have a provision in the lease saying that the field may not be used for any non-baseball activities during the season?

Or maybe the new grass is a total non-issue.

No, I mean obviously, but why wouldn't a baseball team have a provision in the lease saying that the field may not be used for any non-baseball activities during the season?

Or maybe the new grass is a total non-issue.

I think that it is a non-issue. The groundscrews in the big leagues are masters of the turf.

Exactly. 2-3 weeks is plenty of time for this, more than they need.

It was actually his step in the grass that sent him sprawling.  Pence still sucks though.

Altuve looks a lot like he belongs out there. It's easy to forget that the organization had doubts about his ability to play, especially when you see him out there alone with no point of reference with respect to his size, such as a base.

Expect Mills to sit him soon until he can get him going with some more favorable match ups.

Well, let's face it, he's not producing runs worth a shit. They currently need five and he's produced but one.

Yeah, well he already rested him because, you know, the grind of 4 straight games had already dampened his excitement to, you know, be playing in the MAJOR LEAGUE.

You know, that's what most of the recipes suggest. I've seen several that recommend a blanching and then three or four hours at about 200 degrees. There is no fucking way I'm going to leave an oven on in the house for four hours.

I just boiled one for an hour and a half and I can't tell if it's going to do what I want or not. I'm letting it rest in the water and once the water gets to room temperature I'll take it out and fuck with it some more. The skin opposite the suction cups came off easily but the suction cups didn't want to slide off so I'll leave it for a while.

Once I get it cleaned I'll either grill it or make some sort of stew I guess. I could do something simple and tomato based or use some coconut milk. I don't know. If I can't get the suction cups to slide off I may grill it briefly over a white hot fucking fire.

It's hilarious that they removed Barmes in the double switch rather than Altuve who made the last out. Apparently Mills is now a believer.

The team has lost 35 of 45? Fuck! That is unreal. And that's before the team has traded any of its better players. If anyone wants them.

I've been wondering who will end up with the better numbers, the NL batting champion or the Houston Astros. At the moment the batting champion is the clear favorite.

Groundball to second, Sanchez, on first, stops halfway in front of the fielder who is moving toward him; throws to first to get the batter, then a rundown to get Sanchez.

No, but at 8:00, when I left my house, their 9:30 flight to Dallas showed as leaving at 9:45.
15 minutes later, I arrive at Hobby at the flight is pushed back to 12:20.

Topping it all off, it's 2011 and both their "app" and mobile web site are incabable of indicating a delayed start time; they only say "delayed".

Just what is the record for losses in a season?

Modern record is 120 by the Mets. Modern winning percentage is .235 (36-117) by the 1916 Philadelphia A's.

Supposedly he hasn't bought in to the Tank Commander's way of running the team.

Doesn't want to bat ninth?
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

That's do-able.

Just one good fire sale away from owning both records.

This team's good enough on their own.  They don't need to add players.

4 out of my last 6 flights with them have been delayed, most in excess of an hour (on an hour flight), including missing date night with babysitter lined up. Fuck SWA

How late am I to the party that I just realized the Astros dealt their best hitter only to immediately add their best hitter?

They don't control the weather, but they sure as all hell control a piss-poor job of communicating with their customers.

I'm confused.  So you wanted the app to show you'd be delayed enough to miss tonight's game?

Only half of those were weather related - on the worst one, they kept telling us 30 minutes for 3 hours while 6 other flights left

I've only had raw octo.  Duck fat is a delicious addition, but why add to octopus?  I've neverbhadnitcooked, but it doesn't seem the best medium form duck fat.  I would kindly like to reserve judgment, however.

Confiting in duck fat would not be a bad idea at all - you can buy a bigass tub from hudson valley foie gras for pretty cheap when you are orfering your foie and magret.

How did you swing that with your sitter?  Wife must be cool as a mofo.  My two SWA flights today arrived early, but I'm not a big SWA proponent.

I am planning on using half of it in a ceviche and gilling the other half. I don't know why, but I feel like making a fire.

To tie the modern record of 40 wins, the Astros would have to go 7-53 and they'd be 40-122 .247; if they go 5-55 they'd be 38-124 and tie the win percentage record of .235. It won't be easy.
