Bourgeois squibs a ball down the 1st base line, Loney and the pitcher do a square dance around the ball, and miss the tag. It looks like Bourgeois also misses the bag, but the ump wasn't watching that and calls him safe.
Then Bourgeois gets caught leaning and looks like he's thrown out at 2nd, but he's called safe.
And then Kepp grounds out 6-3. Sigh.

I absolutely agree. When you're the bargain-basement Astros, having a competent guy like Keppinger who doesn't make worthless outs and who puts the ball in play is valuable. I understand the move, but I'll miss having him around.

The Astros have a real shot if Myers can throw a complete game. Not sure how likely that is. Until then, as Austro says, no lead is safe.

Top 6:

Kepp gets his 500th hit with a double into the LF corner.
Pence squibs to 1B, and then fucks himself up sliding into 1st. Elbow or shoulder, not clear yet. Kepp moves to 3rd.
Lee bloops a single into CF, Kepp scores.
CJ smacks a single into LF, Lee to 2nd.
Wallace walks to load the bases. He needs to get more ABs against left-handers!
Barmes doubles up the RF line, scoring Lee and Johnson!
Corporan gets the IBB, loading the bases again.
Lindblom replaces Lilly for the Dodgers. I'll bet he loves coming in with the bases loaded.
Myers pops to 1B (in foul territory, so no infield fly rule).
Bourgeois goes down 0-2, and then works his way to 3-2, and grounds the ball up the middle. Miles makes a great stop out behind 2nd and tries to get the force at 2nd, but it doesn't happen and both Wallace (?) and Barmes (?) score.
Keppinger flies out to LF to end the inning.

But he's got a lot more power than Kepp and is far more flexible defensively. He can play any IF position and either corner OF spot.

Yeah, I think of him as more of a Menke guy, hits pretty good for a middle infielder but doesn't really field all that well for SS/2B, but fields real well for a 3B...just doesn't hit well enough.
