I'd completely forgotten that the DSL season begins tomorrow.

Farmstros has some info on it however. LINK

Guess who is now on the DSL Roster?  Jean Carlos Batista

http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=601

He also appears to have aged 24 months in the last 12 months.  He was *17* at this time last year, according to the DSL Roster he is 19 now and turns 20 in November.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Wasn't Yonathan Mejia also a fairly big bonus recipient? Could be a pretty interesting DP combo playing together there.

Man, that dude OSF is everywhere on this stuff. One day he's going to find a girlfriend and then we'll all be fucked. Fortunately he lives in Portland and it's mostly lesbians and liberals and so on up there so I'm hoping that buys us some time.

Reymin Guduan, seems to have some control issues.

10.2 IP, 3 Hits, 15 Walks, 7 K's.   It isn't often you see a pitcher with a .097 batting average against, it is even rarer to see a pitcher with a .097 BAA and a 1.33 WHIP.

It isn't new either, last year he walked 31 in 20 innings.

Must've been in error. Looks like he'll be starting in the GCL. LINK

That means that Juan Santana will get more playing time with the DSL team.  His BB:K ratio thus far has been impressive....wonder how he is defensively

Maybe since Jean aged an extra year over the off-season they decided to promote him?

Maybe since Jean aged an extra year over the off-season they decided to promote him?

Remember, it was very hard to get anyone to confirm that this signing had happened in the first place. Badler did early on, but couldn't add a lot of substance to it.  Here is what Badler had to say about the signing in his 3/2/11 International Review: NL Central piece (subscription req'd LINK):

The Astros had to wait nearly six months for MLB to finish its investigation into shortstop Jean Carlos Batista before officially signing him for $200,000 at the end of November. Batista, 19, will likely debut in the U.S. this year due to his age. A 6-foot-1, 175-pound switch-hitter, Batista is a fringy runner and isn't toolsy, but he has good instincts and field awareness. He doesn't project as a power hitter but he has shown some feel for hitting in DPL games.

If he'd actually lied about his age, he'd have been suspended for a year... Seems to me it was more of a difficulty in investigation issue...
