...a single-single Animal style. It was delicious.

Son #1 had the same with Animal style fries. The fries weren't bad, but I preferred the burger.

Viva Las Vegas. Hooray for In-n-Out's impending arrival in DFW.

If you're in Vegas try a Fatburger too. I always liked them better than In-n-Out, but they're both great.

I go with the double-double and animal style the fries. In-N-Out makes a damn good chocolate shake, if that's your thing.

And I'll second the Fatburger recommendation. ...but I've had some bad experiences there, I think I keep forgetting to ask them to hold the relish.

I live about a block away from In-N-Out... it's great, but it's no Whataburger.

The In-n-Out in Allen hs 150 cars in the drive-thru. The line takes a meandering tour through the entire parking lot through a series of orange cones and police officers, then goes for about 3 blocks down the street through more cones.

Yeah, I don't understand the love for In N Out.  As far as fast food burgers go, Fatburger is way better (and Beck's Prime kicks the shit out of all of them, if you're lucky enough to be in Houston).

Me either. Give me a Whataburger over an In N Out burger anytime. Fatburger and Five Guys are also a gazillion times better than In N Out...

A few buddies of mine from non-partisan states (Maryland, New York, Illinois) did a cross country trip after college.  They were of unanimous opinion that Whataburger kicked the shit out of In n Out.

You're missing the brilliance of Five Guys. I can go there, fill up my to-go bag with peanuts, and then have peanuts around when I'm watching the game...

And I'm with Ebby on this one, decent burgers, shitty fries...

Agree with this, though I don't think the fries are shitty, just kind of mushy sometimes.

Do you get the Cajun fries?  They're the way to go.

We have Five Guys here yet I still long for a Whataburger. The 2 years they were here was a wonderful yet cruel episode.

Let me clarify that I did not enter the drive-thru madness. I'm not spending two hours in line for anybody's burger. I just drove by and saw it.

Five Guys isn't bad on burgers, but I forget that they use sweet pickles. Blech. The Cajun fries are indeed the way to go.

"Anyone who doesn't think that their home town has the best hamburger place in the world is a sissy"

This rings true. It's hard not to be biased. While I would probably take a double meat/cheese/jalapeño Whataburger right now over any other hamburger offered, my favorite hamburger within reach is the Double Play at El Cap, St. Petersburg.

Shake Shack vs 5 Guys vs In-N-Out

http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2011/05/in-n-out-vs-five-guys-vs-shake-shack-the-first-bi-coastal-side-by-side-taste-test.html

You just can't compare any burger to In-N-Out using a day old burger, without animal style or spread.  I've seen that website before and I tried to make the spread myself.  While it was good, in no way was it a suitable stand-in for the real thing.

Growing up, I was never a big In-N-Out fan.  I love me a good Whataburger and have tried most of the other places mentioned, but you can't beat the fresh, quality ingredients or the price of In-N-Out, no matter where you're from.
I say smorgasbord!
