Friday Beer thread
« on: November 12, 2010, 02:07:58 pm »
I had an unusual beer at the Flying Saucer yesterday, New Belgium Company's Sahti.  The bartender said it was brewed in the "Finnish Style" which uses juniper instead of hops.  It was a crisp tasty beer.

I would love to but I'm in Arlington for the Pacquiao-Margarito fight, going to the weighin in about an hour. Hoist one for me!
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

If Jim is drinking by himself at the Flying Saucer in Austin, and I'm drinking by myself at the Flying Saucer in Houston, but we're posting here together, are we still alone?

How the hell is the Slack Shack working out for you, anyway? Alkie told me he had a Schlitterbahn-style water slide half built when the workers suddenly unionized and he had to scrap the project on principle. You ever get all that straightened out?

The Slack Shack is working out well. It's a cool place to go to when I want to get out of town, it's only 45 minutes from my townhouse in Austin--less than some people's commutes.

No. And those union guys never finished the shed for the smoker either. Just a real nice smoker out in the elements, exposing the cook to rain and bugs.

Did you know that union people built the pyramids? They were originally designed as a series of cubes. Each shift did a little less till the last said 'throw a rock on top and lets go home'.

Women and children can smoke meat in a shed.

I'm currently in Chico, CA, home of Sierra Nevada beer.  Played a show last night that gave us free Celebration Ales all night.  It's 8:38 am and I'm awake on a couch.

No, Spicoli, I think that makes it OUR time--or ya'lls time, whatever.
