ESPN doesn't renew Joe Morgan's contract for Sunday Night baseball, Jon Miller might stay on as a radio announcer:

http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/08/espn-breaks-up-sunday-night-baseball-team/

Joe was my favorite player as a kid, so I never minded him all that much.  I'm sure Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine will be much better.

I do, too. Or at least I do as I scramble to find the remote so I can mute that other fucking idiot.

I'm in mild shock to discover that someone at ESPN thought so, too. I mean, these people happily employ all manner of idiots.

I can still count on ESPN to be annoying. Can't I?

Boo-yah!

I understand who Boomer relates to; the fat middle American who loves his classic rock (only) and finds comfort in the same tired 25 year old "jokes."

But Stuart Scott...I don't get.   I know his pseudo-street talk doesn't resonate with me or my child.   I'm fairly positive he doesn't resonate with the Chris Berman crowd.   I know the Asian kids flat out want him dead.   And if I had to guess, I would imagine the urban Black kids find him embarrassing; as if their grandmother was wandering around in their underwear uttering shit like "that's DEF, yo."

Which segment of the population is supposed to find Stuart Scott good/interesting/worthy of sharing our oxygen?

I would guess that some folks would refer derogatorily to his fanbase as consisting of middle-aged Oreos.

Although now that I think of it, that quickfire response is probably much too simplistic. He's generic enough that suits probably thought he'd be some sort of hip crossover instead of a very sad joke that gets even more painful with every retelling.

I don't get ESPN at all. They were so good and went so horribly wrong.

Someone needs to photoshop Morgan, MacCarver and Buck into a gang bang with Nancy Grace so that we can be rid of the whole fucking lot of them.

I got an email from an upper-level manager this morning.

"Poor move, I think." (with a link to the story on NBC Sports)

Me: "Morgan's horrific, but I like Jon Miller a lot."

Manager Guy: "Morgan is not a TV person, unlike McCarver, but he really knows the game."

What is your company policy on kicking a manager in the nuts?

Nothing will top the placement of a recently-fired Matt Millen in the studio to critique the front office moves of various NFL teams.
