Bleacher Report: Carlos Santana "got what he deserved"

Linking to article about theheadline because I will NOT give those asshats the page views they crave.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I thought it was because Tim Bogar is one of the three worst 3B coaches that anyone could have.

The lesson, as always, is that Simmons is an idiot.

He lives by the sword of writing as a fan, and the majority of the time, it works for him; but in times like this, it's just plain ign't.

The woman is a cockroach.  The entirety of the Interwebs have deemed her "thoughts" dumber than a bag of rocks, and yet she keeps coming back.

This guy is close to "getting what he deserved", but I'm not even sure about that.

Bleacher Report is the Examiner.com of sports.  It's edited worse than any other "professional" site I've ever seen.  And I read AOL Fanhouse.

Hardball Times excepted. Those nitwits actually believe that cockroach speaks for Astros fans and publish her cockroach dung periodically.

What does that say for the Hardball Times?

I once re-directed her to this website around the time Gerry Hunsicker resigned as a great place to get info on the Astros.  She apparently thought it was blog and not a forum and said it wasn't updated enough.  I'm not sure she would have enjoyed posting here.

What makes you think she wouldn't enjoy being told and proven she was wrong on an hourly basis?

I've known she was an exasperating idiot with waaaaaay too much visibility for a long time - so long that I've successfully avoided any of her drivel long enough to forget about her - but she writes very, very much like Barzilla. It's eerily similar.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I can't speak for anyone else but back when the Astros were getting more press, when blogs were proliferating as The Next Big Thing she wrote for several, including some that were pretty well regarded. She became something of a go-to commenter on Astro stuff - players, games, lineups, whatever and was probably the most visible Astro blogger. I haven't noticed any change in her 'work' though, it's still dull, rickety prose that leans heavily on HOW SHE FEELS about something spiced with THE FEMALE VIEWPOINT because that's such uncharted territory and clearly an uphill struggle. She tortures statistical buzzwords and bolts them on to her impressions, then stands back and admires the effort. She's bounced around somewhat; I don't know if it's valid, but it seems like she doesn't last long if the audience or blog is savvy enough to pry under the veneer.

My favorite part of her incoherent ramblings about DeShields, Jr. was that a "fully grown" 17 year old isn't going to develop power if he hasn't shown it already.

The woman is a cockroach.  The entirety of the Interwebs have deemed her "thoughts" dumber than a bag of rocks, and yet she keeps coming back.

It's been said that the best thing about the pre-internet days was that at least the village idiot stayed in his own village.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Enbserg lamented (or perhaps just mentioned, it's hard to tell his tone) that "Baseball bats that I used while I played cost $720/dozen. That means that the piece of wood in my hands cost at least $60 a bat. I think maple bats are closer to $80/bat."  Annoying-woman-who-everyone-seems-to-know appears to think that he was complaining about shouldering the cost.

Surely players don't have to pay for their own bats, right?  Or at least, like every other company in the world, the team reimburses the players for such business expenses.  Or do they have to pay for their uniforms and helmets and gloves and eye black and everything else?  Or have I fallen into the trap of random, inaccurate minutia that you warned me about when reading anything this woman writes? CAPS!

Very well.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

No, I don't think so.

I think "Kiss my Astros" (the Barzilla blog) and any Baseball Prospectus article concerning the Astros could be included here as well.

Hardball Times excepted. Those nitwits actually believe that cockroach speaks for Astros fans and publish her cockroach dung periodically.

What does that say for the Hardball Times?

Not much.  And I blame Baseball Primer, too. Those dweebs were falling all over themselves excited because a real live girl was posting on their site (which I don't think was a familiar thing to some of them. . a real live girl, I mean.).  Believe it or not, her writing linked to here is much more coherent than the crap she posted on BTF.  She was mostly pandering to the crowd, calling everyone 'baby' and going along with the stupid innuendos the guys over there were employing as the blogging equivalent of pickup lines.  Then she'd drop down into her 'street talk' guise, which is when I had enough.  It was despicable.  But those guys at BTF ate it up, like they were being talked dirty to by an 'exotic' woman.

That was when she had her MVN blog, and boy did it suck.  I took the trouble to deconstruct an idiot post of hers once, there were just so many factual errors I couldn't let it pass.  After I'd neatly disproved practically everything in her post, with citations, etc., in her reply she just blew right past it.  Didn't really acknowledge that she had got anything wrong, just that there had been a 'misunderstanding' between her and I; the implication being I wasn't gifted enough to really understand what she was getting at, but take her word for it, she knew of what she spoke.  I got pissed off at myself for wasting my time like that, and I believe that was the last time I even bothered to fact-check anything of hers I came across.  I just assumed it was all bullshit and not accurate.

There is a fair amount of crossover between BTF and Hardball Times, which is how she got the gig there.  But I think even those guys have begun to get wise to her, from what I've heard.  I don't know, because the fact that she is listed as a minor contributor is enough to keep me away from the site.  I used to keep up with it for Steve Treder's articles, many of which were terrific.  But, no more.

Lisa Gray is a joke, though.  Don't believe anything she writes.  It may or may not be true, but either way it is not an original thought.  She likes to drop names like those draft picks she mentioned in the DeShields article, because it makes her sound like an in the know insider.  But I promise you, she doesn't know the first thing about any of them.  She just overheard someone else discussing them, or she stole it from someone else's blog post.

She is a cretin.

Don't get me al Queda wrong.  I respect its playing, but I don't have to accept the anti-British sentiment in the anthem because I pay taxes and can't vote.

Oh, by the way, the Sunday drinking laws in the US indicate that one MAY drink. In the UK they apparently dictate that one MUST drink. This is a distinction that is clear to many but potentially confusing to the permanently intoxicated.
