Uh oh, JD tempting the BBGs with Wednesday chatter.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy

You know, it's possible that Soriano is even more frustrating to Cubs' fans than Pence is to us.

Can't remember if it was this season or last, but had almost the same shtick about the 2nd game of a Reds series, except it was 'because Oswalt never loses against the Reds (or similar). As I recall, Oswalt got torched the next day.

Johnson leads off B5 with a single to left (2-2).  11 game hitting streak (rookie record at 17 by Puhl(?)).

Astros put 'em on the corners with no outs to begin the inning, but unable to capitalize. Bourne 0-3, SO, GIDP (think it might have been a good night to start Bourg in CF with the leftie on the hill).

End 5: FTC 0, HOU 0

No reason to belive this isn't mindless bullshit, but a drowning man will grab an anchor if he sees it. Anyway, DoRay said earlier that the Tigers are asking about Pence.

His name is Jacob Turner, but they'd have to be insane to give him up for Pence. And I don't think the Astros would trade Spaz anyway. Which is insane in itself, of course.

Q HBP by Cashner to start B7. Bourgeouis in to pinch run for Q. Feliz (who was going to PH for Myers) called back and Myers up to try to bunt JB over.  JB steals 2B with on the 1-0 pitch.

Can anyone think of a good reason not to deal Myers? Is there really no market for a cheap rental who's pitched as well as he has this season?

No. I'm really surprised that we haven't been hearing more rumors about him. Scouts who have been watching (have there been any?) have to realize that this isn't a fluke: he's really mixing things up and throwing a nice assortment of pitches. Batters just can't time him this year.

No. I'm really surprised that we haven't been hearing more rumors about him.

THe only thing I've read are comments attributed to Wade along the lines of having to be "blown away" to deal Myers. YOu know, the guy with a mutual option that would be an absolute IDIOT to agree to the option rather than trying to find a multi-year deal of some sort (given his season so far).

Oh yeah, Myers shuts 'em down in T8...

Any chance Myers winds up as a Type A free agent if he declines the option? Probably not, considering all of the great pitching performances this year, but a fellow can hope.

Bourgeois with a 2B to left center to start off the B8. It's been fun to watch him play so far!

Myers grounds out, JB still on 2B. Bourn up and Ks swinging (and not that I'm bitchin' but still have no clue why Lou IBB'ed Bourn in the last inning (Hill something likes 3-20 in throwing runners out at 2B).

2 out, Bourgeois at 2B.

Not according to the MLBTR 'Elias tracker,' which has been fairly accurate.  It had him 10 pts below qualifying to be a Type B as of a couple of weeks ago, but I'm sure he's closer after his last couple of starts.  Hope I'm wrong (and that'd certainly be a reason to keep him), but the injury time last year hurt his status.

Woo hoo! Nine Cubbies, fucked.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

That was a really enjoyable game to watch on the TV. The Astros 7th was beautiful. Think there's any chance whatsoever that Cooper would've had Bourgeois steal 2nd there, instead of just bunting him over?

At this point, the Astros might be able to get almost as much for Myers as they would Oswalt. I am also surprised at the lack of trade "chatter" around him.

We aren't trading Hunter unless the Tigers agree to throw in Dontrelle. -PamG

Maybe that's the reson for hiring Bagwell as hitting coach.  He can distract Pam while Wade convinces Drayton to trade Pence!!!.

As of Monday, he was 2 points out of Type B status.  There is no chance in hell he goes Type A.  Not trading him is indefensible.

Of course it's defensible.

Getting anything back for him is better than nothing.  And you can sign him again after the season without giving anything up, so what's the defense for it?

Are there examples of a good player being traded to a different team mid-season and then signing with the team that traded him for the next season?

Even when you suck you need good pitching.  He's got the option for next year.  It is entirely possible that the team you trade him to this year will lock up his option for next year.  Meaning you wouldn't get him back.

Too, if the Astros are offered only AAAA talent in exchange what would be the point of dealing him?

I cannot even fathom what kind of CooperFuck would've occured in that scenario, with the pitcher due up but a PHer already on deck.  I cannot fathom it, because whenever I imagined the most fucked up thing Cooper could do in a given situation, he would come up with something worse.

I am in love with the title of this thread. Much laffing was done.

M, my FTC-fan friend who lives in Houston, was given club tickets by a season ticket holder friend who couldn't make the game. Not only did the FTCs lose, but her younger son, who adamantly roots against the FTCs (good boy!) just to annoy his mother, got a foul from one of our boys, possibly Sanchez.

Always a great game when a FTC-fan friend of mine goes to see the Astros beat the FTCs.
And, by the way, f*** off. --Mr. Happy, with a tip of the cap to JimR
