Heard this: Astros scouting Lastings Millege heavily in their series against Pittsburgh. Could easily mean that the Astros and Mets working on a three-way deal with Pittsburgh, sending Oswalt and Myers to the Mets, who trade a couple of prospect to the Pirates in exchange for Millege to the Astros.  Such a deal would be contingent, or course, on the Astros eating most, if not all, of Oswalt and Myers salaries to get the deal done. -Olney

I'd heard that but I couldn't believe it. I've got a friend who was being courted several years ago for postgraduate work by UCLA and Pitt, and we were dumbfounded when he selected Pitt. I don't think I'd have made the same choice, but I at least now know that Pittsburgh is an attractive city and not the slag pit I assumed it was back then.

All the hills and valleys and the fact that the highways go through tunnels and shoot out to a sudden whole new view of the city and crest over beautiful bridges.  It's really one of the most aesthetically underrated cities in the country.

You should go for a weekend series some time. The stadium is fantastic and there is a surprising amount of interesting shit going on. There are all sorts of close-in neighborhoods that are worth a stroll and as Sphinx says the area around the university is vibrant.

You know, I'd never thought about it like this but the cities within the our division are all worth a visit for one reason or another. Milwaukee's a cool, old town that similar to Pittsburgh gives a glimpse of what a heavily industrial US was like. Chicago's got all the buzz of a huge city with relatively little Disney to it. Cincinnati's patchwork of very individual neighborhoods is incredibly interesting. St Louis, well, you can always piss on the arch.

We were in MIL for a weekend once on our way to a Packer game and I have to tell you....we had a fucking blast in Milwaukee.  Totally unexpected. 

Incredibly nice people who like to eat and drink killer German food.   Totally laid back.  Had a blast.

I wouldn't move to Pittsburgh, but it is a fun city.  I was there for one of the final games in Three Rivers Stadium.  Once they get rid of Mellon arena, it'll probably be worth seeing hockey there again.  I would recommend a trip there when fall is coming.  Lots of hills around the city for nice drives.

I have to go to the Carnegie Museum when I am there.  Fallingwater is close to Pittsburgh and gorgeous.  And I like their beer, Yuengling not Iron City.

If you know where you're going.  I've only been there once, about 10 years ago.  Yahoo Maps seemed to list nothing but non-existent exits to get off the highway downtown, and when you miss your exit you have a maddening drive through a tunnel several miles only to turn around, drive through the same tunnel and (in my case) miss it again.  Repeat through other tunnel on other side of town.

Sounds like Boston, except you can see where you want to go to, you just can't get there through all the doubled one way streets, insane road name changes and lack of signage. Boston is a cool city but driving there is a Kafkaesque experience.
