On Castro, Hyatt and Disher
« on: June 23, 2010, 07:44:05 pm »
Castro out for the year... (Erik, not Jason).

So Erik Castro has simply disappeared? Quick, somebody call Nancy Grace!!

Farmstros noted he was on the DL earlier this morning.  Levine with more in his blog today (along with info on BJ Hyatt).  LINK

Castro is out for the year with a right shoulder injury, hence not being on a roster, but he is still in the organization.

Pitcher B.J. Hyatt, on the other hand, is not necessarily out for the year. The fourth-round pick from 2009 is on the Greeneville roster, and the Astros haven't given up on a 2010 return.

Phil Disher has retired. LINK (H/T Astros County)

Battling different injuries to his hip since he had a tumor removed from his leg in college, Disher, who missed a good portion of the 2008 season after having his hip almost completely reconstructed, was faced with a decision when the pain came back in spring training. Either he could undergo yet another surgery on his hip -- this time a complete replacement -- or he could put an end to his MLB dreams.

"I decided it was time to be done," said Disher. "I didn't want to have it completely replaced."
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)
