Norris has a clean inning to open the game.  Didn't see the first two outs, but the 3rd, a chopper up the middle deserves the bluest of stars.   Matsui ranged to his right, picked it and threw an off-balance, underarm flip to Berkman, who stretched nicely for it.

Bourn walks on a full count and turns it into a double with an easy steal.  Johnson (P) is a huge bitch.  Kepp hits a can o' corn to RF, but it's enough to get Bourn to 3rd.  Berkman grounds the first pitch to 3rd and Bourn trots home.  Good job chaps.

Lee walks on a full count.  The low strike call doesn't look like it's there for now.  Lee tries to steal, tries to stop when he's picked off, falls over and is tagged out.  Not a smart play against a pitcher who can't throw strikes.  Grrrrrr.

Matsui's defensive gem was truly exceptional. No way Kepp makes that play.

Norris gets Cantu to pop up to Berkman in shallow RF, then issues a walk to Uggla followed by a swinging strikeout of Baker.

Cantu can't - pops up to Twinks.  Uggla walks (zone consistent).  Baker Ks, swinging over the top of a snappy curve.  Ross does exactly the same thing.

Norris looking sharp.

Sanchez falls behind 0-2, works the count full w/ hpu's help (2-2 pitch should've been a strike), grounds out to Feliz. Nice play by Pete Happy.

Norris is doing a very good job keeping the ball down.

Bourn spanks a grounder to Sanchez's right at first, Sanchez bobbled it and recovered in time to throw to Johnson covering the bag. Bourn was safe, and Bucknor started to signal safe, then changed his mind and called him out.

Keppinger grounds out to second.

Berkman offers at 3-0 pitch, hits it to SS. SS steps on second for the force out, gets Bourn in a rundown between second and third. Bourn awarded third base on interference by Ramirez.

CABALLO!! Singles to LF for his first RBI. Runners on first and second.

Really. That leaves Bourn on 3rd with 2 outs, you can pitch around Lee if you want, and you're already up by 2. Take the double play.

Lee should've seen it and taken off, but Lance should've been on 3rd anyway, and would've scored on Pence's fly out.

pence's swing just looks so terrible at times.  2-1 inside fastball that he read all the way, but he just he flails at it from his heels and fouls it back.  it's like he wasn't even looking as he swung, or that he doesn't have any strategy except swing as hard as he can

Uggla hits a noisy flyball out to Pence. One out, runner still on first.

Lisa Gray especially, for claiming to be a fan.

Absolutely this.  I got home just in time to catch Blum's cold-blooded triple on the radio feed, what an awesome ending.

Startin' to come together, Pepper.  Startin' to come together!

Tonight's game was very enjoyable to watch. I'm loving what I've seen from the starting pitching lately.

Mills ribbed Puma pretty good in the postgame presser for his woeful attempt to steal third. "His name is Puma but he didn't display any cat-like reflexes there."

Just watching the defense is fun.  Lots of good plays made today.

Mills pushing the right buttons, too. Keppinger isn't my first choice at SS, but his replacement at 2B made some key defensive plays tonight--the blue star early in the game, the fly ball that Pence lost in the lights, and the catch and throw on the game-ending gidp. Does Keppinger make all those plays? I doubt it. Matsui's defense was a big part of the win tonight.
