Jermaine Dye?
« on: March 15, 2010, 03:57:50 pm »
A Bleacherreport.com article that passed across my electronic transom today suggests that the Astros should go after Jermaine Dye, who has said that he would play first base, to shore up the offense, especially now with Berkman on the shelf possibly past Opening Day. Dye's second half last year scares the shit out of me. It would have to be a strong incentive laden deal for it to make any sense to me. But of course, the spectre of light hitting Geoff Blum manning the first sack also frightens me. What sayeth you?

Why not just play Shelton there?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Also - if Berkman is out long term, why waste any money?  This team has no prayer of competing if Berkman is out for an extended time.

He did in Detroit.

He sounds like as big a gamble as Dye. If it was my money, I'd take a pass on Mr. Dye.

I'm not at all opposed to that.

Assuming "sticky" and the lack of punctuation doesn't render meaningless what I think you're saying.

For the last couple of minutes I've been amusing myself by playing a sort of verbal roulette, taking the word "sticky" and inserting it in random places in the sentence. Some of the variations are quite alarming.
