Well, that was a wild game!
« on: October 17, 2009, 03:03:02 pm »
Man, what a back-and-forth game that UT-OU game was. Both defenses were incredibly tough. That was a lot of fun to watch.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Fun? 5 turnovers and multiple penalties was not fun to watch.

Yeah, but those turnovers and penalties weren't (for the most part) just screwups: they were the result of the defenses forcing the offenses into mistakes. (Kirkendoll's brain-dead flag excepted.)

What an ugly game... will take the win against a rival team though.
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two

I love hard-fought defensive games.

It's a damn shame that Blow U's coach is such a cockfucker that he has no concern for the well-being of his star quarterback. Sam Bradford deserves better than Bob Stoops.

I don't get it: how was that Stoops' fault?

Because Bradford had no bidness even playing last week against Baylor, let alone this week against Muschamp's defense.

I don't think it's that clear-cut. He was obviously in pretty good shape last week, throwing for 380 yds (or whatever). They thought he could go this week (and I'm sure he said he could go). He wound up getting hit and taken out, but I don't think you can blame that on Stoops.

Thank you, Alkie. Big Game Bomb needs more critical analysis, even if it's slightly off the mark.

i still have grudging admiration and respect for stoops, and i'd love it if he were the coach at texas.  he does everything you'd want the coach of your team to do in a game (be aggressive always), and while he's not quite the recruiter that mack brown is, he always seems to recruit a few cool players that mack cant get.   now venables on the other hand-- there's a man who deserves a punch to the cock.

this is total bullshit. the doctors cleared him, and he played the whole game last week. UT would have done the same with McCoy. blame the doctors if you want to keep being an asshole. it is not Stoops' fault.

That's the shit that gives UT fans the "Yankee fan" status of Texas.  They can't be happy about a big win, they have to run down the opposing team for whatever spurious reason.

so, you went to Cougar High?  i was not talking to or about "UT fans." i was talking to one person who said something ignorant. you, of course, turned it into a generality.

I attended the game for the second time (prior was the '05 game).  Both were played in identical chamber of commerce weather but this one was fairly frustrating to watch at times with the penalties, injury timeouts, tv timeouts, replay reviews, turnover buffoonery, etc.  Still, it's a great experience and whoever talks about taking the game out of that context--a stadium evenly divided with two great football powers and their fans barking for their team--should be taken out back and shot.  Oh, and McKinney Avenue on Friday night was absolutely outstanding.  Had I been twenty five years old, I would have probably just spontaneously combusted.

I have been going to this game since the early 70's and each one is unique.  Not as much trash talking after the game at the fair grounds as there is normally.  Maybe it was because the Sooners are down a little bit.  I'd like to think it was out of respect for a hellove a tough defensive battle.  At any rate the day started with col' beer at 9:30 and ended with steaks and Luca Malbec sandwhiched around a perfct fall day.  Oustanding

Wait.   During OU Weekend

I'm going to need proof.  Lots of it.  Preferably video format.  HD.

I'm afraid there is more proof than I would like as my "friend" was there snapping photos during the carnage.

We refer to it as Club Idle on the weekends.

Also, it's generally always like that.

Okay, next time, you need to throw in with us.  We need someone along who can remember to bring a pair of reading glasses for us so we can order dinner.
