Fulchino
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:27:25 am »
He has been pretty dependable all year.  I looked at his historical numbers, and he has really improved this year.  Anyone have insights into why?

Also, any talk of him being a starter?   I know they are talking about Wright trying that role, I wonder if Fulchino has ever been considered.

JD was saying last night that Fulchino evidently was a starter at some of the lower levels, and he (JD) was wondering if they might not look at him as a starter again, given the need there.

Especially with that effective third pitch.

Right, I forgot that. That was probably JD's bigger point. Fulchino has three pitches he can use: fastball, slider, and change, and the change seems to be effective against lefties. That gives him a definite leg up if he can develop the necessary stamina.

Nah, he looks way too fragile to hold up as a starter, right?

He looks like Twiggy next to Paronto.

from everything i heard and read, he developed a split-finger pitch this year that has made him effective.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I think that he deserves a look-see as a starter next year.

He and a half-dozen others.
