ACL Dilemma
« on: September 15, 2009, 02:55:22 pm »
I have a friend who is recommending Grizzly Bear as a band to see, but they play opposite Airborne Toxic Event.

I've seen ATE but never GB.

Comments?

I like ATE and they will be at HOB here in Houston at the beginning of October,  I'd check out GB.

They're likely playing HOB while I'm still tramping about in Austin.  GB are playing an after party on the Saturday night, so... worth skipping at the festival to catch later at Emo's?  The only reason I'm reticent to make a commitment is that there's a big crowd for Saturday, and I'd hate to have tickets for an afterparty when the hot chicks are going in a different erectdirection.

ATE comes October 1, 2009 to HOB.  ACL doesn't start until October 2, 2009.

Suddenly, that becomes an option...

I am planning to see ATE at HOB, so let me know if you want to go.

Will do.  My Evil Twin is in town from London for ACL, so I am checking with him.  He may have made other plans* for Thursday night.

* Sacrificing virgins, destroying humanity etc. etc.

He's the one in the middle.  That fat fucker to his left is me...60lbs ago.  To our right is Barry, who is wondering if he'll ever live down the embarrassment of taking two idiot white boys to his home country of Jamaica.

FWIW, Grizzly Bear is fantastic live.  I know this strays from the Evil Limey discussion, and for that I apologize.

Emo's is always a good option, in my estimation.

He spent a pleasant evening in the company of The Virgin Connie Swail?

Ditto this, I've seen them twice this year and both shows were tremendous.  Check out Dept. of Eagles too, guitar player's spin off project.
