I've had my DVR set to record all Baseball Tonight shows for the couple years I've now owned it.  Why?  Well, it's certainly not for the insight.  I use it as an easy way to see Stros highlights should I miss the game.  I tell you what...if I had a quarter for every show where the Astros game highlights were never shown (and we're talking hour long shows to boot folks), I'd be a rich man.  Frick'n frustrating!

Guess I need to take Noe's advice and find a highlight show to record at the MLB network instead.

I grew up on BBTN, and I still really like Karl Ravech, but I pretty much gave up on the show in the last couple years. Thankfully I can usually get some highlights online if needed. But man, I LOOOOOOVE MLB Network. Especially with a newborn; I have spent many, many hours watching MLBN on mute in the wee hours over the last month.

And all these years I've just fooled myself into thinking I had JUST missed the Astros highlights before tuning in....

ESPN is a total beating these days.  Can hardly watch Sportscenter anymore, though I do think PTI is good stuff when both Kornheiser and Wilbon are there.

Outside of College Gameday in the fall, I only turn on ESPN if a Houston sports team is actually playing a game on the channel.

What do folks think about the MLB Network?  Has it replaced Baseball Tonight for you?

Yes, I watch it instead of SportsCenter now without question, especially now that baseball is the only sport going on. I'll switch over to SportsCenter if I want to hear a Favre update, which is never.

The past couple of weeks I've been working a late shift. So I've watched ESPN a couple of days in the morning. All I can say is it still sucks. But Hannah Storm is getting prettier even as she grows older.

I like it a lot better, but mainly because I'm a Harold Reynolds fan.

Same here.  The HD, in game cut-ins are awesome.

MLB.com right now owns ESPN for baseball coverage.  Mainly because they aren't trying to make baseball interesting to Football and Basketball fans.

The loss of MLBN is the biggest downside of U-Verse for me right now.  Well, that and the 13 hour installation process.

But, holy hell, every one of you that told me about what I was missing with the upgrade to HD were absolutely right.  Can't believe I waited this long.

Way better than Baseball Tonight. The only guy who bothers me on there is Mitch Williams. Thankfully, they rotate people in and out pretty regularly. As was stated above, the in-game cut-ins are great, and there really doesn't appear to be a bias for any one team or division. They handle everything pretty evenly.
sigh...

We couldn't believe it, either. Congratulations, and welcome to the good life, you've earned it.

Just got U-verse and the 200 package includes FoxSN-Houston ... looks like most of the games are broadcast and when the Astros are not there, we get either the Hooks or the Express.

No MLBN is the one drawback of U-Verse.  As for the interminable installation, it didn't bother me as I was unpacking at the time.  It was a hot day, and despite being outside half of the five hours it took, when it was over the installer refused to accept (1) a cold beer and (2) a tip.

I absolutely love MLB network.  The highlight shows are much more comprehensive than ESPN's and they don't have as many stupid gimmicks.

The lack of MLB Network is also my biggest complaint with Dish Network right now.

And one of the biggest reasons when we finally had enough of Comcast we went to DirecTV (although Comcast did carry it, they sucked in other ways).

Mind boggling, isn't it?  I'd find a way to pin it on Morgan, if I could.  Or maybe we should pin it on that overpaid sum-bitch of ours Matsui!  Maybe HE has something to do with it.  Shit, I'll bet that interpreter cost somebody a fortune yesterday in the post-game interviews.  ESPN probably decided it wasn't going to pay that guy's fees, too.
