Would you rather have batter by batter updates or just an inning update?

Tejada shoots a single to RF.
Fat Elvis cranks a double to the wall in LF, Tejada tries to score from 1st. OUT at the plate. Berkman takes 3rd on the relay.

Miguel tried to slide in on the back corner, but the throw took the catcher there.  (*If he had come in toward the front of the plate, he probably would have been safe. *per JD)

Lee singles to LF. Berkman scores Astros 3, Padres 0

Blum called out on strikes

Thunderpants grounds into a FC (SS to 2B) Lee out at 2nd.

Miggy could have avoided that tag fairly easily but he was headed right at Blanco.

Very high chop to third. Carlos was hauling ass down the line and juuuust beat the throw. It was indeed a legitimate infield single.

Yes, an inside slide would have beat the tag. Ideally Carlos would have been wildly waving him over.

Q grounds out, Kouzmanoff to Gonzalez, who drops the ball, but Q still is ruled out.  Guess he "held" it long enough. 1 out

Cabrera shoots one down the 3B line, Blum crosses to his right, snags it, crosses to tag the bag and then launches a missle to Berkman for the DP.

Before the bees were on the field, the ushers were starting to move some of the fans out of the way of the bees.

The umpires are now pulling the players off the field.  Some of the fans are just sitting there in the midst of the bees wondering why the players are leaving the field.

JD described it earlier as having the atmosphere of a Spring Training "B" game.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Tom Garfinkel (President and COO of the Padres) is visiting JD and Bill Brown in the booth and says there are several thousand bees under the jacket and that there was a contigency plan for this.  They have a beekeeper on speed dial.  He said he was surprised that such a plan was in place for bees.

Bourn at 1st for Tejada.

Miggy takes one ball, then the Padre outfielders all move to the infield as a huge cloud of insects invade the field.  Maybe bees?

Game resumes.

Miggy takes ball 2

Haha, nope, the beekeeper unleashed a spray of bee-killer all over the jacket and the bees dropped off. Then he put the jacket on the ground, scooped up all the dead bees, and piled them onto the jacket.

I told someone at work that I have an oleander hedge, and they freaked and said "don't you know those are poisonous?", like they were saving my life.  I said sure, but I'm only gonna look at them, not put them in a salad.

On a side note, they have some beautiful huge oleanders all around MMPUS.

Have you ever been stuck by one of those 2" cactus barbs, right through your hiking boot?  I have.  It hurts.

And there is the fauna too:  Mountain Lions, coyotes, tarantulas, brown recluse, black widows, scorpions, rattle snakes, etc...  And, even more in the ocean.  None of it is terrifying or anything like that, it's just very different than the east coast outdoor experience.  If I'm gonna die here, it will be because I failed to roll my kayak properly, not because something jumped out of a tree and ate me.

Well you've never had a problem, so there must be no risk.  One of my dogs eats EVERYTHING (dirt, grass, ear plugs, pantyhose, botttlecaps, wine corks, etc.) - he's practically part goat.  And I've actually sat in the vet with people whose dog was dying and they couldn't do anything because he chewed half a leaf.  There's enough risk there for me to tear out some bushes.

My dogs chew on everything too...except the oleanders.  I suppose there is a risk, but there's a risk of them chewing on the electrical cords in the house too, I don't live without electricity.  My point was that oleanders are common ornamental plants throughout the coastal south, never thought of them as killer flora.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

No, I will not nominate this.  I'm ashamed I laughed so loud and for so long.
Too late, I did.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

This is the one to turn loose in Zambrano's yard. I hope that corksoaker hasn't planted any oleander.

My husky once sniffed out my husband's housemate's stash and ate a 1/4 ounce of weed.  She could easily discover if he's been hanging out with Soto.

I can't imagine what she ate after eating the pot.

I lived in San Diego County for a year.  It's surprising how many flora and fauna there are in that place that can kill or maim you.  The locals just take it in stride.

Tough chicks!
