Green Lantern movie is a go
« on: April 16, 2009, 04:34:31 pm »
Green Lantern movie to be made.  In Australia.  By Casino Royale director.  I don't know whether to rejoice that it's actually being made, or fall into dismay that my screenplay will never see the light of day.  I promise not to judge it harshly against to my screenplay, which is so awesome it could have easily made the Green Lantern franchise the next Star Wars.

I know very little about the Green Lantern, but the author's description made me laugh:

Keep in mind, The Green Lantern gets his superpowers from a magic ring.  No, really.  An alien named Abin-Sur crash lands on Earth, meets a young man, and likes him so much he puts a ring on him.  And the ring inspires the him to put on a full-body spandex suit and knee-high green F-me boots.  What that has to do with lanterns, I have no idea.  Maybe when he’s not fighting crime, he’s really into shabby chic.

Ridiculously overhyped, terribly written and cast, and generally awful?

Or did you just mean the original?

Oh, the original, of course.  I have higher standards for myself than the prequels.  Heck, anyone over the age of 5 should have better standards than that, aspiring screenwriter or not.

I'm not happy they are making a GL movie.  Hal is my favorite comic book character, and I'm sure they'll butcher it.
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two

Come on now.  Jar-Jar Binks is an iconic character in movie history.  I mean, he's (it's?) a walking, talking rabbit/squid thingy who eventually becomes a high-ranking senator.  Plus he's (it's?) hilarious!  Seriously, have you seen how clumsy he is?  Classic comic relief, pure screenwriting genius.

Jackoffosauras was in poor taste, in my opinion.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Would now be a good time for a Donovan reference?  Superman and Green Lantern ain't got nothin' on me!

Oh, and fun fact, Green Lantern was originally created by Mart Nodell, who also created the Pillsbury Doughboy.

mixed feelings on this one... I'm sure they're going to ruin it.

What are the odds of fitting in a Green Arrow cameo appearance?  The Adams & O'Neil Green Lantern/Green Arrow books of the early 70's were the absolute highlight of the series.

I was wondering if there was any relationship between Green Arrow and Green Lantern.
