maybe, but he turned them down last year. my buddy with family connections with the AD believes Kentucky is no threat this time. i think he'll retire at UT.

Firing a guy 2 years in doesn't make the job more attractive.  They ran off 1 of 2 guys in the last 30 years who have been successful - that doesn't help either.

Anything is possible, but I don't see Rick being interested this time around.    I could see Donovan jumping now.    Two years ago he wanted to go, but the timing was poor coming off two national titles.    After consecutive NIT appearances the time might be right for him.

Travis Ford(another Kentucky guy) is another guy to watch if Kentucky whiffs on their top candidates.

I think we discussed this 2 years ago when BGF left A&M for KU.  He had it made in College Station.  Much tougher deal in Lexington.  BTW, RB isn't going anywhere.  #1 class in the country coming to the 40 aces next year, and Mrs. Barnes loves Austin (no offense Andy Z.).

Donovan says he's staying put, and UF says he will not be considered for an outside job.  Seems like the university won't let him go easily if he does try to jump ship.

It would shock me to see them let him go easily.

Adolph Rupp has long since left the building. The basketball expectations at Kentucky are at this point delusional. If they weren't than Tubby Smith would still be coaching there. Barnhart is the fuck-up, if he had done his homework, he would have known that Gillispie was a surly taskmaster. He reasoned that the mistake wasn't who he hired, but rather Gillispie possessed the wrong attitude. Not a good fit. Barnhart looks worse than Gillispie's school-record 21 losses in two years

BCG should have been given another year, at least to see how his recruits developed. A coach needs three years. Hell, they gave Eddie Sutton five years. Now, why would anyone with options want to go there to coach? They're going to end up having to pay heap big money to get someone like Calipari. Or settle for Travis Ford or John Pelphrey and still pay 2.5 to 3 million.

I've been hearing rumors about OK State wanting to take a look at him, but T. Boone is reluctant after the last coach they picked up from KU's hand me down pile.

Travis Ford is a Kentucky alum and I bet if Calipari declines, he will get serious consideration.  Kentucky basketball has probably the most insane fan base in college basketball.  Ford is someone who is used to that and will have a leg up in getting along with the alumni because he's one of them.

I know that he's a former student and player, but I just can't see Kentucky hiring another coach with such a limited record right after hiring/shit canning Gillespe.  Callipari seems more like their speed, proven coach, lengthy record of success.

I think Calipari is using Kentucky to get a raise at Memphis.  Tubby Smith has lots of friends in the coaching ranks and I think his treatment followed by the BCG disaster is going to keep the big names away.  Mitch Barnhart doesn't have a good reputation either.  I think they are going to end up getting an up and comer because the big boys don't want to get involved in that mess.

You're probably right, but I wonder if the Kentucky ego is going to allow them to hire what amounts to someone they may consider an unproven coach.

Looks like I was wrong.  Calipari is going to Kentucky for 6 years 40 million.  I'm thinking Kentucky will end up on probation in a few years.

They backed up the brinks truck for Calipari.    Calipari's connection to a guy named William Wesley(Worldwide Wes) is very shady.   Wesley is the one responsible for steering a lot of talent(Evans for one) to Memphis.

and he'll hire someone close to a player (Evans) or offer a scholarship to their brother who was playing minor league baseball (Henry).  He got busted at UMass and I think it's only a matter of time before it happens again.  He's an arrogant whiner on top of it.  The combination of alumni desperate to regain past glory and Calipari's machine will interesting for sure.

I think that this is right on. Alabama's football program was going through similar problems a few years back, but they opened the Brink's truck and brought in Satan himself. Those blue-blooded horse folks may have to do something similar at UK.

Indeed, it is, kev. Memphis has allegedly offered $2.5 to Anderson. Odd given nothing's been announced officially on Elmer Gantry/Calipari.

Tapping the breaks at mt.org now, the biggest Tiger website. Saying they're "prepared" to offer the $2.5 amount. Anderson's connection to the town is his wife, who is a Memphian. Beyond that, he has always recruited the town well dating back to Fayette Nam days.

Otherwise, I can't think of a non $ reason for him to go ther. I mean, he's already escaped CUSA, and Cal is reportedly taking the best remaining players and top recruits. Tough gig for Cal's successor.

ESPN now saying Calipari has accepted Kentucky's offer of 8 years/$35M or so. Given the pressure of that job, I give him three years before he's in some sort of recruiting scandal.
