Sunday Morning Trivia
« on: March 01, 2009, 09:26:46 am »
There was some discussion about families last week so I thought it might be fun to go with some relative related trivia today.

There are 3 father/son combos who have logged at least 300 career games at DH.  Name them.

Hal and Brian McRae top the list with 1446 games.  The Griffeys have less than 100.

You get one Ding!

If Prince Fielder DH'd in an intraleague game I bet the Fielders would be on this list...

Ding! Ding!  #2 on the list in fact, with almost 550 games.  Prince appeared in 13 games as a DH.
I'm counting on the #3 pair to be a little more difficult.

Fielder...what a perfect name for a DH.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

The elder Tartabull never DHed.

Major technicality, eh. Still, together they combined for over 400.

But they didn't "combine" for anything.  It's like saying the "brother combo" with the most home runs is Barry Bonds and his brother who never played.  If one doesn't contribute anything at all, it doesn't really qualify as a "combination".

Right.  And besides, everybody knows that one is the Aaron brothers, one of whom contributed in single digits.

My bad.  Tommie had 13, putting the Aaron brothers ahead of the hypothetical Bonds brothers under any definition.
