Between these moves and Sabathia/Burnett, looks like there's still some money in New York, if not elsewhere.

They ought to move the winter meetings to New York from now on.

Perhaps Minaya and Cashman hit it big on slots this week, while Wade and others didn't have good enough poker faces?

I'm not sure how much of a bump the Yankees got from the new stadium or some high salaries coming off their books, but they're spending like they got the money to spend.  The Mets?  I dunno, but some say that K-Rod didn't get anywhere near what he expected and would've been better off renegotiating a contract during the season with the Angels.  Moral of the story is that as an agent sometimes you play the market and some times the market plays you.

The steM money is contingent on Citi getting what it needs from Uncle Sugar. The Yankmes had their skyboxes sold out long ago from what I've heard.

The Yankees have over $80 million coming off the books from Giambi, Abreu, Pavano et al.

ETA: Mussina also.

the mets just pulled off one of those 3 scrubs-for-1 stud trades you try in fantasy all the time when a new guy comes in your league, and it still never works. i'm almost speechless here- they even got jeremy reed to be their new 4th outfielder taking chavez's place.

Fleecing the Mariners - home of Richie Sexson, Kenji Johjima, and about $150M of crap pitching - should never be a surprise.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Didn't the Yanks also get some money from a new radio or TV deal?
