Yes, supposedly this kid is the brother of the bride and he was beaten so badly by the officers with their batons that he has bleeding in his brain.  His father was also tased in an attempt to help his son. 

On another note, one funny comment I read about Backe's involvement was, "what's the big deal, he's used to getting hit".

yeah, after reading it again, it definitely seems fake - especially the part where she says batons were only used for those who resisted by trying to wipe pepper spray from their eyes.  probably just someone trying to incite others against the GPD, not that they really need any extra help for that.

The Galveston County Daily News: Independent analysis of police is needed

One of the those cited in the fracas was Jaime E. Forero Jr., who is directing the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s response to Hurricane Ike. Forero has declined to comment. But the most credible information we have is that Forero was trying to call City Manager Steve LeBlanc to report he was witnessing instances of police brutality when he was taken to a patrol car and issued a citation.

The Galveston Police Department is refusing to talk to the media about this because of an internal investigation.  The city is going to get sued over this and they deserve it.  There are a lot of corroborating eye witness accounts that have people complying with the officers orders getting beaten anyway.

Maybe by saying "approximatey two closed hand strikes," GPD also means a knee-drop or two.

Michael McMillan, 36, of Houston, said he and Backe walked up to see what the commotion was about and saw O'Balle on the ground bleeding, being shocked with a Taser and handcuffed. Police began shouting at them to back up and they complied, he said.

After they backed up as far as they could, McMillan said, officers continued shouting, "and Brandon Backe said, 'Sir, be cool, we're backed up as far as we can go.' "

As soon as Backe spoke, several officers wrestled him to the ground, punching him as he went down, McMillan said.

"A police officer kicks him right in the face," he said.

Backe never used profanity, insults or resisted the officers, McMillan said.
