Right after the bunt for a base hit, you could see the disgust in Wandy's face. Seems like every time you see that look, he breaks down.

Harden has absolutely destroyed the NL so far. Given up 3 runs total in 4 s starts, all on solo homers.

We're due a solo homer, and then we can say we came closer to beating him than anyone else.

Pinella visits the mound (walking VERY SLOWLY), takes the ball from Harden, Howry coming in.

Grounds into a 6-4-3 DP to end the inning.  Man, I thought Tejada had screwed the pooch on that one.  Great turn by Matsui.

Tejada stumbled as he fielded the ball, then tossed underhand to Matsui at 2nd, but the throw was on the LF side of the bag, almost pulled Matsui off, who then had to turn and make a quick throw to 1st.

Slow roller to Tejada, who decides to flip the ball to Matsui, but might be a little far for the flip, Matsui gets the ball with the runner on top of him, quickly gets rid of the ball and throws a strike to Blum to nip the Errormiss.

DeRosa

called strike, called strike, ball, ball, CRAP--flies to deep RF, Hunter attempts an over the shoulder catch, looks like it hits him in the glove, drops it, rolls into the ivy at the base of the wall.  Hunter grabs and throws it in quickly--runners to 2nd and 3rd.

I think Hunter should have had it, didn't get a good read on it, sorta slowly drifted back at first instead of running.  But I've never played baseball, so what do I know??

It was a tough ball to run down, right in that angled corner. Pence did a nice job getting to it, almost got a glove on it, and picked it out of the ivy with no hesitation.

BS. Pence drifted instead of getting back to the wall. It fell in front of the wall. A good OFer would have caught it.

How did Pence look on that double?  The Cubs radio guys seem to think he played it well.

Totally lost.  He did his classic run back to the wall and then turn to track the ball and it landed in the Ivy.  Since his time in the minors, that is the one thing that makes Pence a less than great outfielder (and the very reason he'll never be a good centerfielder): he doesn't go back on a ball well at all.  He has to make a spectacular play out a hard play going back for a ball.  It's not easy to go back on a ball, but the better outfielders make that play look easier than how Hunter makes them look like a need to make a super catch.

Eggszactly.  At at game in Minute Maid a couple of weeks ago (against the Cubs or Pirates), he had a ball hit to him that was over his head.  He totally botched that play, trying instead to make a spectacular catch out of it.  He just doesn't read balls hit over his head well at all.  He did that in the minors a lot and a reason I believe Pence will never make a good centerfielder on any team.

Theriot at 1B for Lee

ball, foul tip, ball, Theriot steals 2B (got a great jump), Home plate ump goes out to talk to Brocail (who is talking to himself), ball, popped to shallow RF and drops between Matsui and Pence.  Theriot scores.

Hell was that with Redass, ump, and Cooper?

JD opines that when Brocail was screaming at self, the homeplate umpire thought it was directed at him.  Cooper took exception to the homeplate blue trying to come out to scream at Brocail because of it.

I'm going on vacation starting tonight (no posting for the rest of the week).  I'm guessing right now several SnS citizens kind of wish I'd leave and not post right now!  Or 30 minutes ago.  Damn I suck!

Dammit Noe!  Take your own advice and suck it up and take it like a man.
Did I say you posted something wrong?  Quit being so damn sensitive and grow a little bit of thicker skin.  It will help you around here, as will a little bit of sense of humor too.

Not the first time for Mr. redass. Didn't he get tossed for doing the same thing earlier in the year?

Yep, and almost got tossed another time (until Q intervened).

I thought Paronto was DFA'd? Do they not have to wait that process out?

Cooper on postgame

Wandy did not seem like he had it today.

on Brocail: When you hang a slider to guys like that you are gonna pay

on Sampson:  had a couple of mistakes, but did great otherwise

on Harden: didn't pitch his offspeed stuff as good as usual

Sampson was good in the 6th and shittly in the 7th. His bad pitches got the rally going.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

lightning struck a bunch of kids out of a partly cloudy spring sky at my brother's junior high school: one dead, one maimed for life.

not much funny about a lightning storm to me.

Ill conceived comment on my part.  My bad.
