T.S. Edouard
« on: August 04, 2008, 11:46:39 am »
Do we just not care? Nobody at my office seems remotely interested in it.

Is it the silly spelling? Can das shed any light on this?

I care. I want it to fill up the Gaudalupe River.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

2 - 4 inches of rain, with some areas getting 6 inches.  Flash-flooding galore.  Supposed to begin tonight with the actual storm coming ashore tomorrow morning.

I'm not so much worried, as hoping that it's bad enough that I can skip work tomorrow morning at least.

Which is pretty much the extent of my concern as well.

I feel guilty about looking forward to the rain it will bring Central Texas.

Limey summed it up perfectly.  I love over-reaction though.  Sometimes I end up with an unexpected day-off.

why would you feel guilty about that?  that area needs rain badly.

The HEB by my house is completely sold out of water. For a tropical storm. Unfuckingbelievable.

You picture it with a sombrero and a pistola instead of a pocket protector and retainer that way.

It irks me when the weather guys/gals give those "what to do" lists when it's real hot--you know, stay in the shade, drink water, don't wear a parka, etc.  For people who have lived in warm locales for a considerable length of time, they sort of know what to do or not do by now.  For those who don't have sense enough to figure it out, "buzzards got to eat, too," sayeth Josey Wales.

After getting caught unprepared by Rita (no generator at the time, no power for three weeks), I will not take any storm lightly anymore, even as I live 60 miles from the gulf. That being said, I only read about this one this morning, I had no idea it was out there.

My chainsaw, generator, and vehicles are all gassed up and ready to go. Bring it on, we could use some rain.

BOOYAH!

Office closed tomorrow (assuming the storm hits).  Not a bad day for the Astros to be playing in Chicago.

ETA:  I'm hoping that the US Mail lives up to its motto, because I'm also waiting for Season 2.5 of Battlestar Galactica.

Made landfall near High Island this morning. I must be just on the outskirts, cause there is a slight breeze and misty rain, a nice and welcome change from the heat.

Man it is really coming down out there, and the wind has picked up exponentially.

I'm driving into Houston tonight, I have an exam I am taking tomorrow.  What is the weather there like now?  I've been keeping up with weather.com.. I assume its accurate, but just like to know what other folks are experiencing.

Lot of rain, wind isn't too bad.  Watch out for underpasses that may flood.

You might want to check out some of the local tv station websites.  Sometimes they will post road closings.
Don't know which direction you are coming from, but I-10 was shut down near Hankamer/Anahuac.

Coming from the opposite direction, from Austin. Not sure if I'm gonna take I-10 or 290.
