Geez, no game thread tonight? C'mon folks...

Pence with a line drive 2-run homer makes it 3-2 HOU in the top of the 4th.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Top 5:

Erstad: reaches 1B on an error by Belliard.  None out, runner at 1B.

Matsi: doubles to right, Erstad to 3B.  No outs, runners at 1B and 3B.

Berkman: doubled into the alley in left center on a 2-0 pitch (Nat announcers surprised that he wasn't walked intentionally).  HOU 5, WAS 2.  None out, runner on 2B.

Lee: singled through the hole into left, Berkman to 3B.  None out, runners at 1B and 3B.

Tejada: struck out swinging (b- up and in, ss- nasty curve down and away, ft- fastball down the pipe, b- up and in, ss- another nasty curve down and away, Miggy flailed at it).

Blum: shot on the ground to 1B, LoDuca tags the base but doesn't tag Lee coming back to the bag (instead appears to be looking at Berkman to make sure he doesn't score) - nice job of baserunning by Lee there.  2 outs, runners at the corners.

Pence: singles past the shortstop into left (Pence hits towards the shortstop, who'da thunk it), Berkman scores, Lee to 2B.  HOU 6, WAS 2.  2 outs, runners at 1B and 2B.

Ausmus: singles into center, Lee stops at 3B.  2 outs, bases loaded.

pitching change: Top 5 (2 outs, bases loaded): HOU 6, WAS 2

Top 7: Rivera pitching

Lee: single to Guzman at SS (showing nice range), throws to 1B not close to being in time, ball goes in to the dugout and Lee awarded 2B.  None out, runner at 2B.

Trainers out to take a look at Lee, but he stays in the game.  Looked like he hit the bag a bit funny, but seems fine.

Tejada: liner on 3-1 pitch right at Belliard at 3B.  1 out, runner at 2B.

Blum: tapper back to the pitcher, who looks Lee down at 2B and throws to 1B for the out.  2 outs, runner at 2B.

Pence: walks on 3-2 pitch (laid off outside sliders for ball 3 and ball 4).  2 outs, runners at 1B and 2B.

The Kid is beginning to throw in the pen in the event the 'Stros have to PH for Sampson, Loretta on deck;
Manning (LHP) loosening up for the Nats

Ausmus: struck out swinging on the high heat.  3 outs, 2 stranded.

Middle 7: HOU 6, WAS 4
