wireless networking question

we have a wireless network in our home
one of our computers is having trouble
connecting to our network -giving us a
message that says "unable to connect to
wireless network. this problem occured
because the network did not assign a
network address to the computer"

please help!

Usually means that, if there's some form of wireless security, that the computer didn't meet it.

Incorrect password etc.

we simply moved the computer
from one room to the other
we have re-booted several times
still seeing limited or no connectivity

You can lose if you get air conditioning ductwork directly in line between the computer and the router, too.

Rebooted the router and then rebooted the computer? Can you look at the router configuration from any of the other computers in your house?

OK - i was gonna start a new thread but since this one's kind of computery - here goes.  I have a motorcycle and want to install a system where you keep a chip (or whatever) in your wallet (or wherever), like a CAC.  proximity with this chip would essentially be the same as having the key in the "on" position.  so all you would have to do is hit the starter and "roll"  is there anything like that out there?

Linksys tech support told me that an aquarium can interfere with the signal, too.  I was wondering why my tetras had gotten so big lately....

Also, check your Network Mode. Sometimes switching from Wireless N to something else (B or G) can solve the problem.  If you have Linksys you can access all that stuff here.  Use admin/admin for the user name/password.

Unless you had to go down on a Comcast installer, it couldn't have been that bad.

Thank you for not starting a new thread.  At least buried in here you can pretend no one saw it, whereas with a new thread you'd have the awkward "Views" count to contend with.

i freekin hear ya.  it looks like i'm gonna go with a kickstarter and one bad mutha of a kill switch anyways.  i can't even use the "i was so wasted" excuse either but i had been up for about 29 hours when i posted that
