So does giving up my tickets to the game because I have to work all night count as a proper sacrifice to add a few marbles into the Astros' side of the BBG's karma scale?

Good evening, ladies and germs.  I will now endeavor to sacrifice the first Pilsner Urquell of the evening to whatever etherial Powers that May Be in an entirely benevolent and non-controversial manner.

He nearly had to come in a few weeks ago when Q had come in to replace a pinched hit for Ausmus, and the Q took a foul off the nads.

If Q has a concussion, I think Spack should track down Jose Cruz III and conk him on the head with a bat.

He's a little loopy, I'm sure, but it's probably just precaution.

Can somebody explain to Wandy that jabbing at the bunt doesn't work? Shit, we might as well have him fake the bunt and swing away like he did last week.

Heard Q's injury on the radio and tried to access the video on Astros.com, but it has been removed.  Was it on the front or back swing?

Back swing on an inside pitch. He was moving inside on the RH batter, hit him right on the top of his head. Went down immediately and didn't move.

Maza knew he'd popped Q pretty good, as he turned around and looked at Q for a number of steps as he was running to 1B on the play.

Good lord, Michael is fast.

Geary has been pitching well. It would be a verrah nice outing if he could close it out here. His defense is helping him out to do so.

Nah, those look enticing but usually result in Ks.  I pretty much set Jane up for a shot to the train tracks with that comment (hence hanging curve...).

Maza knew he'd popped Q pretty good, as he turned around and looked at Q for a number of steps as he was running to 1B on the play.

Anytime your swing or followthrough gets interrupted you'll look to see why.  He just seems to have an extraordinarily wide and looping followthrough, although Q was coming out of his crouch a little too.

Ok.  Maza needs to have his cap spun.  Better?

Fucking Spazz, but that was a classic clusterfuck of poor luck. Can't really blame either in when it's so in between, but that's a hell of a job to hang on to the ball by Loretta after the collision. I hope he's okay. Newhan as the everyday secondbasemen is a frosty thought.

Damn I'm slow tonight...

I typed out my response and hit preview, noticed three replies, then hit cancel.

Ah crap, Loretta was Spazzed.

If the team loses Loretta and Q tonight, after dinging Oswalt and Valverde the night before, some serious Spack needs to be doled out to JCIII.

I think Brownie and JD are missing the critical point: Blum is the emergency catcher. If Coop pinch hits him here, he's pretty exposed for extra innings.

Which'd be the better choice, as you'd want your relievers available to pitch.

So this will be Wright's last outing for three days, I guess.

He gets sent out seemingly every day. Every fourth one seems shaky (not a scientific observation).

Didn't the Mets do that in the '86 LCS, maybe with McDowell and Sid Fernandez or Franco or somebody?

I seem to remember that was during a regular season game.

Not scientific! But, he did pitch the last three days, unless I'm very mistaken.

Still, he's not shaky tonight. Just one pitch left just close enough that Kent could get just enough of it. Other than that, he's pitched very sharply.

I swear, these Japanese pitchers and their windups remind me of the Negro League pitchers.  They need to break out the four foot long mitts and the rocking chair for the catcher to complete the circus.

I still can't find the game where it happened.

I found it here. Originally it was the Dierker seizure game, played 6 weeks later in the completion of the suspended game. He never actually played CF that day, according to the PBP.

And Lima at 3B?

Same thing, inserted in the lineup but never played 3B.

Yeah, I got that, but I can't believe that anyone here would have forgotten that.  I mean the roar of laughter from the crowd when he ran out to 3B had to be deafening.

They never actually went out there, as far as I know. The game resumed with one out in the 8th, just after Bagwell struck out (6 weeks before). They were listed at those positions when the Astros were batting.

Does that have something to do with certain guys (from June 13) no longer being on the active roster? Otherwise I don't understand why they would appear in the batting order at all.

That's what I was attempting to find out, but the wifey needs me for something else. Priorities.

I suspect it was just a ploy by Dierker, call it a jalapeño moment.
