Goodyear Blimp facility
« on: June 12, 2008, 02:37:37 pm »
In Houston for the Radiohead show at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion a few weeks back and  was wondering about an old Houston landmark.   It seems like the Goodyear Blimp hanger/facility was located right around that venue.  Anyone know?

I believe it's a gigantic car dealership now....Planet Ford, maybe?

I'm starting to like a ballplayer I always mocked. I chuckled every time LaRussa brought him in to "turn Lance around" and laughed at the many digs at his girth on this site, but it's gotten to the point that I'm honestly rooting for him to succeed out of pure spite.

The Goodyear airship "America" was stationed at the hanger in Spring from 1969-1993, when it moved to Akron, OH.  The location of the facility was along the west side of I-45 between Cypresswood and Louetta.  The site is now occupied by a Lowes store.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I've got no real issue with Ray King. I too always laughed when he came in just because he's so gigantic. But by all accounts, he's a good guy and a competitor. I'd enjoy nothing more than seeing him dominate in an Astro uniform.
