Since experiencing DogFish Head IPA, I have found that everything I drink now seems to pale in comparison.  Even the inherent menace of Stella just doesn't seem to do it for me anymore.  I need DFH's hopapallooza!  But, of course, DFH 90 is 9%, which means that you're an idiot if you drink more than one when there's a steering wheel in your future.

There are not many beers that I won't drink, and almost all of them have Shiner somewhere on the label

...although (risking losing all credibility in this forum) I must confess that my favorite beer is a Lone Star longneck (THE original longneck, I might add - drinking one now, at work, no less), followed closely by Pearl in a bottle.  I am also a fan of the High Life, Genuine Draft, Michelob Amber Boch (as well as plain old Michelob), and Coors Original.  I like real beers, though when it is 100 degrees out and I am playing golf I drink Miller Lite (hard to drink 38 Lone Star's in that kind of heat)

Here's a real life beer question: I've played golf the last three Sunday afternoons and you know what the weather has been like--a little on the warm side.  So, the friendly young lady driving the beer cart rolls around and opens up the cooler.  Limited selection and hot as hell.  Out of the following, name your poison:

Coor's regular
Coor's Light
Bud Light
Budweiser
Miller Lite
Corona Lite

It's got a third less calories than a regular beer
Lite tastes great, y'all, but listen here
It's got a taste that makes me shout
But Lite's less filling and that really knocks me out

Smithwick's is starting to show up this side of the pond.  That's a good thing.

I'd go with Miller Lite.

Smithwick's has been on tap at our neighborhood Irish pub for a few years now. Love it.

Had a couple of notable beers this week...

Dogfish Head India Brown Ale - carmelized brown sugar gives it a flavor of coffee & chocolate, but mixed with a little hop (nothing like its 60/90/120 bothers).  Unique and enjoyable but not something I would turn to regularly.  Also, a little treat for the Dogfish lovers

Hoegaarden - Belgian white beer (spiced).  Good stuff, the spice is coriander I believe and works well in this wheat beer.  I'll definitely be trying this again.

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout  - Nutty coffee flavor with just a tad of bitter, really good stout.  This one isn't new to me but it is a favorite.

Absolutely, MAB has NO after taste..and not all after-tastes are bad (and most full bodied beers have one), but I just cannot stand that of Shiner.  After speaking with others about this, I have found that after-tastes are very personal and vary greatly from one person to the next.

It's lacking in before taste as well.

In PA (or, at least, the arse-end of it that I've visited), you can only buy beer from licensed beer vendors, and only by the flat.  The only beer available that was in the slightest way interesting, was a Michelob "variety" pack.  If by "variety", they mean beer in a number of different coloured bottles, all of which is rubbish, then they nailed it.
