I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

If that's really it for Smoltz, does he make the Hall of Fame?

"UPDATE: Smoltz will have surgery, likely this week with Dr. James Andrews, and will attempt to come back. The surgery is expected to be “major”, though we don’t yet have details on what the surgery will be. I’ll discuss this on XM 175 at 12.25p Eastern with Jeff Erickson."

IMHO yes. Great character along with 200+ wins and 150+ saves there can't be too many with those stats.

I think he should make it just off the top of my head, but who knows.

20+ years with one organization is also a rarity in this era:
Bagwell, Biggio,Ripken,Gwynn, Larkin....
Who am I missing?

the 250/150 club has one member...I do not think it is going out on a limb to call him a future hall of famer

Bagwell didn't play for 20 years. Neither did Barry Larkin.

Even more rare than I thought.
So what is was 18 or so for Larkin and 15 for Bagwell?

Fear is temporary, regret is forever.
