can he still pitch? we need another starter.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

probably not,

"It's been difficult," Morris said. "I could feel it all coming to an end in a hurry. ...I've been a burden on the bullpen. It's been hard to deal with mentally."

Morris is aware the decision likely ends his career.

"I've accepted it," he said. "It was a great segment of my life. I really can't wait to move on and be with my family. It's a sad day, but it's also a joyful day. ... I'm proud of my career. I didn't mean or want for it to end this way. I've always said the other team will let you know when you're done."

Good find, prav.

Wandy seems more injured than 15 day, Backe goes 5 innings right now, and Sampson is unreliable.  Getting lucky in the Independent League an option?

I think that the guy going tonight is auditioning for the no. 5 slot when Rodriguez gets off of the DL.

Morris seemed cooked.  But he still gets a cool $12M to sit at home.  Pretty sweet deal.
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two

The Astros could take a flier on him for a pro-ration of the league minimum.  It wouldn't be the worst $300,000 they've ever spent.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Why not? People keep taking flyers on worse pitchers than Morris in his current state. Our rotation ain't exactly stellar.

Wow, he just gave up $13 million.  I'm surprised.
