What a perfect start.  Bourn steal.  Matsui bunt hit.  Tejada solid single.  Berkman going deep.  Thing of beauty.  Love having Matsui in the lineup.

Having went to the two games over the weekend, I couldn't agree more. Very nice.

The Astros have certainly started this game off well. It really makes a differences if your top two are disciplined and make the pitcher sweat a little. Anybody up in the Padres bullpen yet?

So remember how someone had been pulling to wool over Milo's eyes with the "joke" groups in attendance? We thought the brass put the kibash on those hijinks, but Milo just lead off the group announcements with "Norm Peterson brought some friends. THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT! Bring some friends to the ball game and show them a good time."

And now I remember what is so infruriating about listening to Milo. He's gushing over some guy from Farmers' Insurance, he's dropped about seven "SON OF A GUN!"s, and then slipped in "by the way, now the Padres have their second run in the game off a sac fly from Gonzalez." I didn't even know Gonzalez was up to bat.

Didn't papal status used to attach after 6000 posts, not 5000? Mihoba is certainly benificent, but if by the end of the year I'm labelled a pope, the system is fucked.

German o still throwing

The Speedy One works the count full, hits a bouncer up the middle, the enemy Japanese 2B can't handle it, infield single.

Kaz Godzilla Jr. steps in, lines a 2-1 pitch right to Jimmy in center, 1 down

Miggy smokes a hit-and-run single to left, 2 on 1 out.

Puma Twinkie misses but the Astros double steal! Bourn at third, Tejada to second. They decide to go ahead and walk him to load the sacks.

Germano hits the showers. Lefty Ledezma enters.

Flapjack slams the first pitch for a single to right. 8-2 Astros

Blum at the dish, WP/PB scores Tejada and moves the other runners up, 9-2. Blum pops a fly to medium RF, Giles catches it on the run, Berkman steams home, close play, the throw beats him there....safe! Twinkie eats some dirt. 10-2 Astros.

Spaz misses a very high FB, side retired.

nitpick, ball gets away, Tejada breaks from 3rd with a bead to home, Pence stands watching in the ondeck circle holding his bat.  It's the little things, he could have been directing Tejada to come in standing.

I know I'm not caught up to "live" yet, but that was a downright Bagwellian slide by Berkman to move the club into double digits.

Roy stalks his prey

Iguchi fouls off several curves, but watches cheese at the knees. 1 down.

Ledezma hard shot to a diving Blum, jumps up and throws, 2 down. More dirt eaten.

Giles bloop double to RF

McAnulty pulls a curve right to Kaz, throw to first, side retired.

Ah, that reminds me. Driving around the state this weekend - I think it was the Friday game - Milo updated us that Yvette was in town this past weekend for a baby shower. She is still in Boston, and is due to give birth in early July shortly after she returns to Houston. For some reason I feel the need to pass that on to you guys.

It's official.  I can't stand the Padres' yellow suits.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

They are ice cream shops and that is all. Same up east. When I was living in Boston someone suggested we drive out to a DQ. My "I could totally go for a Beltbuster right now" was met with blank stares.

You're right about the ice cream shops. The lady that ran this DQ near my house in Vegas always gave me shit when I ordered a chicken strip Country Basket, because she knew I wanted gravy with it. She'd always complain about what a pain in the ass it was to mix up the gravy, and then she'd have to throw it out because no one besides me ever asked for it.

She would have shit a Brown Derby if I'd asked her for a Beltbuster.

I just got home from work, what a pleasant surprise when I turned on the game.
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two

I've asked about gravy in California but all they have is Ranch.  Who the fuck puts ranch on chicken strips?

I see DQ has dropped the Brazier descripion. I never could figure out what that meant. Am I dating myself here?

One of my Denial Leauge teammates puts ranch on his chicken strips.  And on his cheese stix, and on his french fries....Hell, I think he dips his ranch dressing in ranch dressing.

"The "Brazier" name has been slowly phased out of signage and advertising since the early 1990s, although it has not generally been removed from existing signage. New locations (i.e. built since the early 2000s) that feature elements of the Grill & Chill store design, but which are similar to Brazier restaurants in terms of size and menu selection, usually carry the name "DQ Restaurant"."

Yes, Dairy Queen has a wiki.

The chicken strip wraps at Sonic and the Twister from KFC are good stuff. I would prefer gravy, but they are easy to eat while driving.

He looked good to me.

And in unrelated news, I also liked Pence "aggressively" forgetting how many outs there were.

Speaking of DQ...one of my favorite movies is Fandango.  I love the scene where they run out of gas in Marfa, and the local grease monkey tells them "better hurry if you want supper...Dairy Queen closes at 8".

Miggy was awesome. I am so much more impressed with him than I ever dreamed I would be.
