Mercifully, the game tonight doesn't appear to be on tv for me (Dish).  Perhaps I'll actually find something productive to do instead.

Go get 'em, Roy.

sounds like great hustle from Bourn infield hit, stolen base number 8

Bourn's leg/ankle is hurting. He was favoring it after running past first on his infield single, then was gingerly stepping back on several pickoff throws. He was running on a fouled off hit and run with Loretta, now he just swiped second on a pitchout to Berkman and came up out of his slide slowly.

If anyone else is still looking on DTV, today's game is on 743

He stole one last night (and grossly over slid the bag and hurt himself then as well) for numero ocho.  I think tonight it is number 9.  Leads the majors in stolen bases.

Noe you may be right, Fox Sports is calling it number 8 where I am following the game, but it is Fox..regardless 8 or 9 SB and it's mid-April, that's great!

It's 8 after tonight's.  JD corrected it last night after they showed 8 on one of their league leader graphics.

Thanks, that is where I saw it originally.  After he stole second, they showed he had 8 and the next guy closest to him had 6 (Reyes?)  So now he has 8, correct?

That's my biggest criticism of Bourn on the basepaths this year (and only).  It seems as though he's sliding a bit late.  Is he concerned the slide slows him down or it is just over-aggressiveness?...i don't know.  You can't argue with success, but the risk of injury seems to outweigh any marginal advantage he may get....i mean the guy is 28 for his last 29 i believe....

I think Reyes has only 1 or 2 this year so far.  It may be Gomez with the Twins.

Edited: Figgins also has 7.  Gathright has six.

Yeah, old age and faulty memory.  I think there were a trio of guys behind Bourn with six.  Gomez was one of them.  I thought I saw Reyes name in the bunch, but can't be sure.  Thanks.

Yep, Gomez and Chone Figgins each have 7 in the AL. No one else in the NL has over 4.

I'm really impressed with Bourn.  He has a nice enough swing that he should be able to hit .280-.290.  The two HRs are just gravy.

like the roy we're used to seeing. fastball was consistently 92-93. hit 94 a few times. curveball had some serious break to it.

Not surprised here. Wright is the go to guy to pitch to lefties, and Utley/Howard are two of the best.

Wow, the HP ump finally gave the Astros a call. Howard sure didn't like it.

Howard was looking away or that could have been a dangerous location on a 3-2 fastball.

Not surprised here. Wright is the go to guy to pitch to lefties, and Utley/Howard are two of the best.

I just wasn't sure he was available yet.

He looked great.

He was looking all the way, he threw his bat and turned before the pitch crossed the plate

I was a little upset that I didnt get home in time to see what I'm guessing was a very Roy-like outing... and then I got to see Wesley Wright. Simply amazing.

As much as it hurts to say it, if Valverde is able to pitch tonight, they should throw him.

The extra work involved pitching to about three batters that he shouldn't have been pitching to.

If anyone still has Roy's last game tivoed, go look where he finished his delivery and compare it to today, much more upright on the finish.

I didnt see him falling off, along with the leg whip that causes it, but I did notice he was dropping way down on his landing.  Didnt drop so much tonight.

That is what I assumed when he didn't take the ball in the ninth.  Working on the mechanics would be my guess, keeping the elbow up and staying on top of the ball.  Probably did a lot of work in the pen today to iron out the problem.

That game kind of reminded me of the nightcap against Pittsburgh after the Williams/Wagner meltdown. There's no better way to get over a heartbreaking loss than to come right out and make up for it.

Though I didn't get to see it, I was reminded of game 6..  Coming off a gut-wrenching loss in the previous game, the masses are panicking, Roy comes in and shuts them the hell down.
