Race for the Lid (and then some) VIII (2008)
« on: March 28, 2008, 11:05:34 am »
It's baaaaack!  Yes, the game you all pay waaaaay too much attention to and get underoos in a bunch about has made it's return to the TZ.  The heck with March Madness Brackets, you know as well as I do that the RFTL is really the primo game in town.  So for this year, we have a new twist: we will award a lid and a bat to the winner.

You ready... here you go...

RACE FOR THE LID VIII

Contest Rules:

1.  Whatever the rules are, BudGirl (your RFTL judge and jury for 2008) can change them any time for any reason, including whim.  The purpose of this rule is not to promote chaos, but to preempt wailing, moaning, whining, and griping.  Particularly griping.

2.  Picks below 80 can’t win. Even if they’re right they’re wrong.

3.  All posts are in this thread.  Posts out of this thread are DQ’d unless I change the rules.

4.  One choice per person.

5. If there are gaps in the high picks, say, between 95 and 162, the high pick gets the gaps down to the next highest pick.  This does not work in reverse, i.e., below 95.  We all lose if the Astros win fewer than the low pick.

6. The grand prize, of course, is an Astros cap of BudGirl's choosing from the Shed (we're begging her to keep away from the pink version, but juneberno), and new this year:  A Dave Clark game used bat, autographed by Dave Clark himself even!  What could be better?  A hardy thank you goes out to Todd the Bod for the donation of the DC bat, a treasure for any TZer indeed.  Because of that, Tood and BudGirl are allowed to make rulings on prize disputes that may arise... namely, they get to tell you to go to hell if you whine that you should get the prize!

7.  NO POSTINGS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE OFFICIAL COMMENCEMENT TIME, WHICH IN THIS CIRCULAR DEFINITION WILL BE ON OR ABOUT 1:00 P.M., FRIDAY, MARCH 28th (the Official Commencement Time).  Anyone who post before then will be DQ'd.

8.  No entries will be accepted after the first pitch on Opening Day.  Or thereabouts.

11.  Here’s the list of past winners:

2006  Fredia (who PM'ed me and called me every name in the book... misspelled of course)
2005  Drew Corleone
2004  Andyzipp
2003  Jim R
2002  no winner
2001  Neil T  (See how arbitrary and capricious his rulemaking can be?  He didn’t even enter the contest until the 161st  game, right after he disqualified the real winner.)
2000  no winner, but one heck of a whiner
1999  Astrobabe

Good Luck!

1.  What Lurch said.
2.  96 is not eliminated.
