The Astros cut eight minor leaguers according to an article in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times
Included Albert Castillo, Jesse Garcia, and Francisco Caraballo.  http://www.caller.com/news/2008/mar/24/astros-release-garcia-robstown-native-among-let/

Albert Castillo was Tejada's friend that Ed Wade signed whenever he dined with Miguel Tejada/Castillo in the Dominican a couple months back.  That transaction screams pure politics
Reading Richard Justice and respect level for Richard Justice are inversely related

More reassignments according the the Chron:

Quote
The Astros made two roster decisions Tuesday, optioning pitcher Ryan Houston to Class AAA Round Rock and reassigning catcher Josh Johnson to minor league camp.
Always ready to go to a game.

and? how many courtesy drafts do you think there have been down through the years?
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

And I think the Astros didn't have enough catchers to work their pitchers.

Don't know.  Don't care to research it.  Just commenting on it.  If it was to make Tejada's transition to the Astros easier, it seems like its working.  If you'd like to enlighten me on the courtesy drafts through the years, i'm all ears

it is SOP for guys in baseball who have kids who play. Reid Ryan is a great example.

makes sense.  i imagine Koby fits into the same category.  Now that we're on the topic i seem to remember Piazza being picked by the Dodgers as a favor back in the 80s/90s. Not exactly sure what year he was drafted

The difference is Koby was picked in the top 10 rounds where as Piazza was a last round pick.

Another example from last years draft was Dewey Robinson's son was picked.  He did we at Greeneville but his upside has some limits.  If he wasn't connected, it is unlikely he gets drafted.

Koby was picked much too high on direct orders from the owner. his instruction was "do not lose Koby Clemens."

Just posted a bunch of cuts in the Minor News area.  I am bummed about Torbert getting cut.  He is a good kid.  Hope he finds a place to play this year.
Always ready to go to a game.

Aaarrrrgh.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.
