Luis Castillo anyone?

Mr. Rosenthal says the Astros are interested....http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7404158

Does this move Burke to the bench or to another team?

I'm not sure the latter is even a viable option, waivers notwithstanding. As far as Castillo, I guess he would help at a current weakness, the lead off spot.

This makes a lot of sense. Pursuing Hunter/Rowand upgrades the defense, but from an offensive perspective, they're probably comparable to Scott, but making $10-$15 million more.

Castillo clearly upgrades one of the Astros' current weaknesses (well, without Loretta) heading into 2008 from both an offensive and defensive perspective. In addition, it's been a while since the team has had a legitimate lead-off hitter in the .360 OBP range with a very low strikeout total.

If Rosenthal is accurate, I like this a lot.

Burke's name gives me a gag reflex.

How's Castillo's defense?  Matsui's a FA, but I bet Colorado will do everything to keep him.

He's won three Gold Gloves and has a reputation as a defensive specialist.

Colorado seems perfect for Matsui's slap hitting game with its big open outfields.  If the Rockies gave him a decent offer (and they will), I don't see why he wouldn't want to play there -- unless he has altitute sickness or the school systems aren't good enough.
Boom!
