Could be an interesting swap. Torre played in StL, didn't he?
Best years of his playing career.
Torre had been a solid defensive and good-hitting catcher up to then, for the Braves in Milwaukee and then Atlanta, and he sort of fit the stereotype of the late '50's - 1960's
endomorphic Italian backstop.  He was traded to St. Louis before 1969 (for Orlando Cepeda), and there began to move from behind the plate, playing 1B and 3B more and more (he arrived in STL during the time the Pre Co-ards were going through the transition from Tim McCarver to Ted Simmons behind the plate.)  Whatever position he was playing that day, Torre just kept on hitting.
After 1970, he decided to revamp his physique (perhaps as an exclamation point to his move from catcher to infielder) and went on the water diet, a popular fad diet of the early 1970s.  Torre lost 30 lbs. over the off-season and, svelte for the first time in his career, he went out and hit .363, to lead the majors (by a long shot).  And won the NL MVP.
He played two more years in St. Loooey before winding it down with the Mets.  Torre's recent success as a manager in the Bronx will obscure his playing career (probably already has), and some fans might not know he was an excellent player for a decade, an MVP and a 10-time All Star.
