I am preparing to duck behind whatever I can find shortly
« on: August 08, 2007, 11:30:16 pm »
Anyone taken a young child (< 1yr) to a game at MMP?  Any suggestions or tips?  Am I fooling myself into believing that this will be an enjoyable experience for me and those around me?  Just like every other parent you have met, MY child is really well behaved.

I've taken 5 different children that young to games over the years...my wife and I plan to hold at five.  Presuming you're concerned about balls coming into the stands, sit in the 400's or on a line behind home plate, give or take a two sections.

Great photo, by the way, not to mention the cover.

I took my oldest (now 16) to a game at the Dome BY MYSELF when she was about 10 months old. That was not the most pleasant experience. The game went 13 innings and my daughter was fine because she slept through about half of it. But in those days, there were no "changing stations" in the men's bathrooms, so I had to lay her on that nasty floor to change her diaper.

She was an early walker, so she occupied herself by walking back and forth down the aisle.

Go ahead and do it! How bad can it be?  ;)

By the way, my son went to his first game when he was 20 days old, but my then-wife was there, so it was easier.

Buy a large beer or popcorn and retain the cup.  It comes in handy for containing vomit.

Put Tito's in his/her sippy cup. Buy Lemonade at the concession stand. Mix. Enjoy.

I could see this turning into a conversation about babies conceived at a baseball game.

Last year at opening day a cop got fired when he got caught having a 3 way in the family bathroom with his wife and one of her friends. They forgot to lock the door.  Dooooooh!

If you are going to lose your job I guess that's not the worst way in the world to do it.

It wasn't opening day, it was the rangers series.

My youngest was born in June 04 ... and "saw" all of the playoff games that year.  Slept right through the roar following Kent's homer.  The next year she took 2 full naps in the 18 inning game.  Only word of warning is to be ready for the fireworks which scare my kid far more than the crowd noise.

Mark went to his first baseball games--A UT v. TT DH--when he was 6 months old. he slept through both games in his carrier and did not ask for money for food or souvenirs.

IS that the last time that he didn't ask for food and souvenier money at a game?

I try to buy for my dad now when we see our 2 or 3 games a year together. I figure I'm at least 100 behind.

Anyone know if you can take carriers into the stadium?  I'm guessing no, as I can't picture where you would put it (unless there's an extra seat next to you).

If you can take it into the stadium, you'd probably have to check it with guest services.

You can if you buy the carrier a seat or keep it in your lap.  It cannot sit in the aisle.

Too bad- it could be a fun drunken stumbling obstacle course- try not to kick the baby down a flight of stairs.

Brownie: "JD, look at that, there's a baby rolling down the stairs toward the field. And look at the fans, they're just stepping back and watching!"
JD: "Well yeah, you don't want to touch it until you see if it's going to roll foul."

I took my son when he was only 6 months old. The biggest issue for him was the noise, other than that it wasn't bad, we had to get up a few times to change him, but there are people there without kids that get up more than that in one inning alone. The worst part for me was he could only take about 6 innings, so we made an early exit.

Clairfy this.  Little ones 2 and younger are admitted free. Everyone else needs a ticket.
