Bonds makes speech. Thanks fans and teammates. Thanks to fam. Thanks the Nats while they clap. Thanks dad, breaks down and cries.

Ya know, I think it is cool to do this at home. I am glad Bidge got his 3000th at home. Just makes it more special.

I'm pissed that I missed it. I saw his earlier at bat when he doubled but missed that one.

Yeah, that scrum was insane. Fucking clown in the jacket who dove into the pile about thirty seconds after the ball landed deserves a beat down.

Maybe the reason they drug the guy out of there is because he stabbed some people while fighting for the ball.

Besides the record breaking homer, another thing that happened that inning that I have never seen in all of my years of watching baseball was the popup on the infield and the pitcher called off the infielders and caught it himself.

It's a testament to Barry's assholery that people are rooting for Arod to break the record.

Right, this is the guy who was asked if the record is tainted... he said, no, it's not tainted at all, and changed the subject, boom.

Yes, Mr. Aaron was quite classy last night.

Buddy of mine called me about 11pm last night with the "guess where I am" crap as he's waiving to me on TV.  He was about 10 rows up from where the ball landed.  Just happened to be in SF for business and got hooked up for tickets.  Said it was loud as hell and he was laughing at everyone diving into the pile that weren't even close to getting in there in time.  Made a comment about a guy saying his seats were actully behind home plate as he was leaving the pile.

This must be another record. Of the first 11 posts in the thread, eight were by the same person. That's a .727 thread-domination ratio (TDR). Congrats, Jose Cruz III.

Yes, Mr. Aaron was quite classy last night.

Aaron was one of my childhood heros.  It was interesting this morning on ESPN, the poll that asked the greatest HR hitter of all time, Aaron was sweeping the same South Eastern states where he suffered racist threats from as a minor and major leaguer.
Always ready to go to a game.

Could be. The guy was wearing a Mets jersey, apparantly a Queens native on a stop-over in San Francisco on his way to Australia. Guess he just paid for his trip, and then some.

To Bonds' credit, they asked him in the press conference what he thought about a guy from NY getting this valuable HR ball, would he try to get it back, and he said something like "I've never thought players were entitled to their HR balls. Those balls belong to the fans." Perhaps a subtle dig at A-Rod, who apparently tried to pressure the guy who caught #500 into giving it up on the cheap?

The guy should have made ARod sleep with his ugly girlfriend for the ball and then took his picture while he did it. That would be worth alot more than a baseball to ARod.

Plus it could have started a whole new Toddthe Bod Arod to the Astros thread.

You're missing the bigger picture.  From now on, every homer that Barry hits is a record-breaker.

Oh Bonds trotted a lot more times than that.
Ya gotta count the the majority of his singles and doubles over the last decade.
Hell, he trotted on most of his groundouts too.

I was reading a while ago about the estimated value of the 756 ball.  It's not as high as many would think.  Memorabilia experts are pegging it at around $400,000-500,000, and even less is the Stem doofus waits too long.  Several reasons for the seemingly low value:

1.  Bonds is a tool.
2.  Steroids.
3.  Memorabilia market is in a bad way right now, mostly from players milking it for the last decade.
4.  This is likely not the "record-setting" HR ball, Bonds's last will be, so the ball from his last will be worth the most.
5.  Market figures Bonds will not hold the record for that long, likely less than 10 years.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
