Torres

Why is Torres in Lex instead of Salem?  I know he was promoted at some point, but then Ramirez got hurt and he was demoted?  I guess I don't get that.  Why not demote someone who wasn't playing as well?  I tried to research the posts about Torres to piece it together (talked about positional need), but maybe you guys can fill in the blanks.

Also, do you have a SR on Torres?

I don't have a scouting report on him.  I think he has been caught in a numbers game some this year.  However now that it looks like Johnny Ash is out for the year in CC, there could be some movement that allows him to get back to Salem.  His numbers look good except his strike outs are alittle high but significant improvement over last year at Tri Cities.
Always ready to go to a game.

When you're a college senior and drafted in the 20's you're not going to get many breaks or chances.  The Astros have him filling holes where they think they need him.

Good athlete, good arm.  If he can hit at the upper levels, he might get a looksee.

Yes.  And on that basis, it seems possible that they would jump him all the way to Corpus to see what he can do.  Fernando already got his look earlier in the year, and Torres has pretty well shown what he can show in A ball.  Sutil is another one who has spent a lot of time there, though, and as a super-util guy at Salem he might also get the call.  I've always liked Sutil and have been a little surprised at the way he has stalled, but with only second-hand reports to go on, it's easy to make huge mistakes in valuing players ... especially in the lower levels.

The year before Manzella was drafted I would have sworn to you Sutil was the SS of the future.  Then, pffft.  He is only 22, but he looks like a possible utility guy, esp because he has plenty of speed and can play all the infield positions.

The guy who could surprise has suddenly, and I mean suddenly, turned it on.  Billy Hart is destroying the ball, like he never has, at Salem right now.  Unfortunately he's not a good 3B.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting at Corpus next year in LF, RF (esp if Iorg is still on the mend), or 2B.
