I might have seen it happen before. You know as well as I do that the chance of a runner scoring from first with no one out is greater than his chance of scoring from second with one out.

I don't know that, and you don't either.

Any chance Jim Leyritz is looking for a job and available to start ASAP?

Lucas just made a comment that Gunther might end up in the Hall of Fame.

ETA: I had to go back because I was half listening. He meant Wagner and Glavine might go to the HOF.

As a small comparison:

Pitcher      IP      PC     H    ER     BB    K
Williams   7.2    112     5   3   1      6
Albers       2.0     20     0    0    0     3
Moehler   2.1    55    5   2   2    0

It took Moehler half as many pitches and less than 1/3 of Williams innings to give up the same number of hits and more walks.

Albers has started a few times, so I would hope that he has some stamina in games.. I know Garner wanted to send in a pinch hitter for a scoring opportunity, but when you're going late into the innings, don't you want to play for endurance and reliability?  I had thought that perhaps he would have just kept Albers in for hitting, as the Mets did for Sele.

  --Garfield3d

Second guessing moves in a 17 inning game is pretty fucking stupid.

Loretta's AB music is "Low Rider"?  Not exactly what I'd envision for him.

When Wagner came in from the bullpen, they should've started to play "Enter Sandman," then interrupted it with a cartoon "BOING!" and started up the Benny Hill theme.

If nothing else, this thread goes down as the longest in the history of OWA (so far).

Not usually.  They played it before he hit the walkoff HR last week and since then they've played it when he's come up in situations where we need a clutch hit.  I don't know when it started.

And it had a bit of everything.  Humor, pathos, classical music, and even a little bit of baseball.  Everything that makes OWA what it is today.

Except the classical music.

Finally, "World Baseball Classic to be cancelled?" has been dethroned.  Tonight was a win, after all.

I don't think it does, but I'm not sure.  I think a thread the night the Astros won the pennant goes down as the longest.  But I'm not positive.

And they just showed that catch again.  Goddamn.  That was a helluva catch.  Beltran won that game by himself.  Tip your cap, pound the Budweiser, etc. etc.

World Baseball Classic to be cancelled?  501

These reflect only since the board has been on the new software/server/whatever its called.  Does not reflect the old OWA board or the old AstrosConnection (BFT)

The more they show it, the more I believe that was the second best catch in the history of MMPUS.  And he made the best catch too.

If anybody is still reading here and watching Astros baseball, switch to 297 (Comcast in Houston, if you have HD) instead.  Finally some good entertainment on Live Earth.  Pink Floyd.  Smoke 'em if you've got 'em.

FWIW, officially it's just Roger Walters.  Anticipating the entire The Police set soon.  I'll be calling it a night as soon as Kanye graces us with his presence.
