Luke v. LHP -  .321  .367  .607 - 30PA
Burke v. LHP -  .279  .380  .395 - 51PA

Career Splits:

Scott
vs. RHP .273/.359/.519 (473 PA)
vs. LHP .271/.380/.447 (100 PA)

Burke
vs. RHP .235/.310/.363 (641 PA)
vs. LHP .289/.354/.411 (297 PA)

If you're going to start Burke at all, you may as well start him against lefties.

I wouldn't start him in RF. He can platoon with Biggio, but it seems like an unjustified waste of ABs for Scott.

I'd rather have Biggio hitting against lefties.

Sure. I was thinking of the home/road platoon. Or something.

Trying to figure out Garner and his 'hunches' for a lineup is impossible.

Rollins with a drag bunt fielded by Berkman and tossed to Woody. Appeared to just nip Rollins to the bag, didn't get the call.

Victorino with a solid single to right, Burke had to backhand, but he kept it to a single. Rollins to third.

Utley with a comebacker, holds the runner at third, tossed low to Berkman, Victorino to second.

Howard pitched around and finally intentionally walked on 4 pitches.

Rowand with a fading fly to right, Burke catches on the run, throws home but not in time. Ausmus throws to third, catches Victorino in a rundown.

1-0 Phillies.

Lamb, with good career numbers against Moyer, works the count, fouls off several 2-2 pitches, then grounds softly to short for the FC.

Will be interesting to hear how he was running from 2nd and through 3rd.  Hustling, thus making it at least a possibility to score, or not and thus put himself in position to be thrown out.

Berkman's swing (again from the right side) looked very smooth and almost (perhaps intentionally?) slow, FWIW.  Tagged it, regardless.  His 3rd RH extra base hit for the season.

Milo has actually had some funny lines tonight.

Lee's play on that foul ball a couple of minutes ago (paraphrased):  "I think Lee may have hit the barrier except it's still standing."

On Berkman's nice dig (paraphrased again):  "Woody's thrown two good change-ups tonight and they've both been to first base."

Must have gotten lots of sleep.

Joe Table in to pitch batting 7th, Greg Dobbs at 3B batting 9th.

I suppose a two-by-four at above the rated velocity would bust one. So whatever the mass of that, divided by the mass of a baseball, times the rated velocity, would suggest how fast a ball would have to be traveling to break it.

I would assume that's extremely unlikely.

You wouldn't happen to be an engineer, would you?  (Would put smiley here it this were that sort of place.)

And Lurch:  I think I probably made the list long ago.

Their pitching must suck.

Weird route is an understatement. A lab rat on acid would take a more direct path through a maze.

I was a nervous wreck as soon as Wheeler took the mound. He has had no command for several weeks now.

It's a beautiful thing to see the Co-ards 15th at 4.89.

They sent Reyes to Memphis today. And Kip Wells has been a 'fan-tastic' acquisition.

If the Astros can't win the division, it somehow makes it more palatable if it's not St. Louis, Chicago or Cincinnati.

Creosote is a bitch.

Wikipedia (for what that's worth):

"Long-term exposure to low levels of creosote, especially direct contact with the skin during wood treatment or manufacture of coal tar creosote-treated products has resulted in skin cancer and cancer of the scrotum. Cancer of the scrotum in chimney sweeps has been associated with long-term skin exposure to soot and coal tar creosotes. Animal studies have also shown skin cancer from skin exposure to coal tar products."

There's a Michael Barrett reset in there somewhere.

Being first in the league in offense and last in the league in defense is a pretty rare thing.  I don't know how rare; that would require an Arkyvention.

Oh, and Arky:  Look out for your buds, bud.  (I only know this because it's a frequently mentioned as a good example of specificity in Hill's criteria.)

JD said he hesitated rounding third. TV didn't show it.

I was at the game and had a perfect view (second row of Diamond level, halfway between home plate and the visitor's on deck circle).  Berkman stopped when he got to third even though there was two outs (when he should have either kept running or at least go 1/3 of the way towards home).  He was standing on the bag when the ball was dropped.  To make it even worse, he wasn't paying attention after he stopped.  So when the ball was dropped at first he got a late start towards home, making it an easy out.  Two stupid base running errors cost us at least one run.

I miss Bagwell.
