Literally no AC, or did they just not have it on?  That must be miserable...

IIRC from when the Indians played their series there back in the "spring", it can be heated but not cooled.

Ensberg

all the strikes were on the edge of the zone, off the outside edge

If you can't swing with a runner on 3b, when the hell will you swing?

Pigeon shit. Swing the fucking bat you moron. Tying run on third, one out. Need the RBI, not a walk. The pitch was too close to take.

He has been playing 3rd for RR all season.

He isn't on the 40 man roster, is probably why he wasn't brought up.

Hunter catches flat-footed, airmails the throw over the cutoff man.

Ugh.

Why is it other teams advance on balls hit to the outfield and the Astros don't?

Because the Astros dont hit to their outfield.

It's named after noted philanthropist John M. Bullpen.

Why is it called the bullpen?

In Olden Times, souvenirs were called bullcrap.  As in "Daddy, can I have a spongey ball with a star on it?  No son, you don't need that bullcrap."  You can't say bullcrap to kids nowadays because they'll grow up wrong.  For instance, I heard bullcrap a lot.  See?  So now, the players who sit in the bullpen come into the game for the purpose of distributing souvenirs to the crowds.

In 1924 it was used in the Chicago Tribune.  That is the Old English Dictionary's first recorded usage in this (baseball) context.

In 1957 Ogden Nash wrote a poem with that in it.

I pasted the secondary definition for bullpen from the OED, they list the first times the word was in print.  In this case it appeared in the Chicago Tribune, 1924.  Chicago as we all know is world famous for idiots... no, maybe stockyards.

In 1924 it was used in the Chicago Tribune.  That is the Old English Dictionary's first recorded usage in this (baseball) context.

In 1957 Ogden Nash wrote a poem with that in it.

Do you mean the "Olde" English Dictionary? Because I think that's even older.

Garner was assuming that Burke would have a legitimate chance on a sac fly. Loretta would have none. Of course, he didn't count on Lance hitting a dribbler to the pitcher.

double the LF wall, looked like it was gone, Lee made a good play on the carom, makes a casual flip to short, coulda had him at 2nd if he had tried, Hall was really slow out of the box admiring his hit.

On my team, Hall would have been removed for a pinch-runner for that shit.
would you also put someone else in left?

What should I have said?  Out-freaking-standing?  Excellent?  And then have some one call me out because they think it wasn't?   I'm having a hard time keeping up with the PBP, and getting my 2 boys ready for all star practice, feeding all 4 boys, and potty training a 2 year old.  Sorry my description pissed you off old man.

you ain't no spring chicken, either.

Miller with -- wait for it -- his first HR of the year. How surprising.

Who was loafing more on that play? Lee or Hall?

I say Hall, but I may just be accustomed to Lee by now.

Predictable ending.  Nice effort by Woody and Qualls.

I'll take Hall by a coont hair, and agree that Lee's nonsense is becoming predictable.

Gettin' PERSONAL, aren't you.  7-21-1968

I may not always agree with you, but I don't make it personal.  Everyone calls you old man and jokes about your age.  It was not personal.

I don't know why you are so crabby lately, but I have done nothing to deserve being treated like this.

He just said that Lamb made a great play that you called pretty good. I wouldn't call that pretty crabby.

About 2/3 of the board has their panties in a twist recently.
