You can't make stuff like this up
« on: June 26, 2007, 10:55:18 am »
From Joe Morgan's ESPN chat today:

Quote
the reds have young talent for sure, but can they become contenders with the management they have right now?

JOE MORGAN
That's a very good question. I don't think I'm equipped to answer that question. But it's a very good question, because I've been asking myself the same question. I'm not as close to the situation as I have been or should be, but I've talked to the owner and he wants to win. I am disappointed in what I've seen so far.

I have no words to describe this answer.  I don't think I'm equipped to describe this answer, but it's a very good answer, because I have no words to describe it.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I don't think I am equipped to reply to this post.  Though it is a very good post.  But in regards to Joe Morgan as a commentator, I am disappointed in what I have seen so far.

He wants to comment, but he doesn't have the commenting equipment.

What is the most idiotic part of this answer?

(1)It's a very good question, because I've been asking myself the same question.

(2) I've talked to the owner and he wants to win.

(3) I am disappointed in what I've seen so far.

I vote for #1, but it could be #2.  Or perhaps #3.
blah, blah, blah . . .

I think #4:

Quote
I'm not as close to the situation as I have been or should be,

Look Joe, you were a great player in your day, that does not give you any of the following: baseball organization running skills; an ability to judge talent; an ability to make a salient point; or even a right to be self-righteous about former organizations or current players.

Au contraire, mon frere.  It's a rare point of self-awareness: if he holds himself out to be a baseball commentator, then he should have some baseline knowledge of what an organization - much less his home team - is doing.

JOE MORGAN
That's a very good question. I don't think I'm equipped to answer that question.

Coincidently, that was same answer Jenny Finch gave today in her chat... when someone asked her opinion on the best male enhancement drugs on the market.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

and Craig Biggio is not a good second baseman, i know all the numbers say he is, but i just don't have the words to describe why he's not.  He should have stayed at catcher, i just don't think he's equipped to be an everyday second baseman.

That's got to be one of the longest and most confusing nonanswers I've ever seen.

Sure wish Joe could get arthritis of the jaw.
"(512) ybbodeus looks just as creepy in HD as in person."   That is a problem, and we are working on it.
