RIP, Darryl Kile.

Hard to believe it's been 5 years.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Probably my favorite memory of DK was when he hit a home run in 1993 at a game I was at in the Dome--still one of my favorite Astros moments.  He went CG shutout also.

RIP DK #57.

Its funny, not ha ha funny, to think about what would have happened if he re-signed with the Astros after the 1997 season.

Would we have traded for The Unit in 1998, meaning Guillen/Halama/Garcia would have been Astros.

The 2001 pitching staff could have been Kile, Oswalt, Miller and Garcia who went a combined 64-28 with an ERA around 3.10.

You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?

Also, you could probably do something more interesting with Hampton than trading him to the Mess in 2000.

Yeah, but hampton became Dotel and Dotel became Beltran.  Plus no Hampton also meant no Operation Shutdown.

And if Garcia had been an Astro, then Felix Hernandez would have signed with the Astros.

Oddly, I could do without Beltran or Dotel.  Shutdown could have still been ducttaped to Hampton for something better.

Given that Hun mistakenly belived both:
(a) that Dotel was a starting pitcher, and
(b) that Cedeno was a functional outfielder,

I don't see how he could have gotten much less for the package.

Man, I loved DK. I was watching the Horns win the CWS when I heard the news. It made a national title very bittersweet.

Yes, you could have him model a clothing line for gay chimpanzees.

Isn't that a bit redundant? Traded to the Mets, or, model a clothing line for gay chimpanzees.
